There's a Springsteen show from The Main Point, as it was then called, from February 1975 circulating around. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 20 Aug 2002 21:16:01 -0400 From: Don Semmens Subject: Re: Come on music lovers, wake up! Who have you seen lately, who knocked your socks off, >who are you seeing in the near future? Etc etc. Well, if you know anything about me, you know I'm a huge Regan fan. Since Falcon Ridge I've seen 3 of her shows AND had the pleasure of hearing her sing the National Anthem last night. Also, since FR I've seen Sam Shaber at the WONDERFUL Jammin' Java, plus many of my favorite local musicians at Richmond's Watermelon Festival. Since I've been discovering so many GREAT local musicians, I'll have to miss Mr. Schaefer at JJ. It's certainly a mixed blessing when you have to choose between Robbie and Kate Lawton. But the fact that she hardly ever plays out AND it's only 10 minutes from home weighs the decision in her favor. Also coming up is a special Devon show in Charlottesville. IIRC, she opened for EFO in C'vlle and Mike described her as the anti-Jewel (or something like that) don dreaming of blue skies (is) where I wanna be -- Regan Don Semmens; Richmond VA; donsem@attbi.com Buy Regan's new CD "Coming or Going?" http://www.cdbaby.com/reganmusic2 Rob Buck Memorial Scholarship Fund http://gottabuck.org/ ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 20 Aug 2002 21:46:47 -0400 From: "Jamie Barth" Subject: Music We in Boston are truly spoiled by the incredible voices and wonderful venues we have to hear music. Someone once told me that there are 5000 folk musicians in the U.S. and 4000 of them live in Boston. Club Passim has become my 2nd home. The semi-annual (Memorial Day and Labor Day weekend) festival - On the Cutting Edge of The Campfire - is coming up soon. Over 100 musicians play over the 4 days - which run from Noon to 2 AM daily. You can buy a weekend pass for $15 or a daily pass, allowing you to come and go as it suits. Campfire offers a wonderful way to see favorite performers and to hear new voices. Details are at www.clubpassim.org Among the voices I'm enjoying of late include Peter Mulvey, Josh Ritter, Mark Erelli (his new album The Memorial Hall Recordings is amazing), Deb Talan, Beth Amsel, and the wonderful Resophonics. All but Beth played at Newport a few weeks ago. Great Big Sea (who were a Falcon Ridge find several years ago, along with The Paperboys) is wonderful fun, with a huge fan base here in Boston. Getting your ideas and recommendations is much fun! Thanks to all. JamieGet more from the Web. Buy that, and the live CD, and listen to Skorborealis first. The live CD is a true-to-life rendition of the 3D stream-of-consciousness onslaught that is a Danielle Howle show. Must be witnessed to be believed. - -T ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 20 Aug 2002 22:50:09 -0400 From: Brendan Subject: music OK, normally I'm a lurker, but since the question was asked... :) I saw The Clarks, Fighting Gravity and Cowboy Mouth a few weeks ago at Wolf Trap.
