Speaking of EFO for special occasions, I am due (any minute now, I swear) to have my first child. Already packed is "Quick" so that whoever is closest to the CD player when the child makes its big entrance can hit "play" for "Great Day." Should the child NOT arrive on it's own, the doctor asked if July 5 would be okay as a date to induce labor. The first thing I thought of was "Fifth of July." The lyric "Now what?" makes me think of how my husband and I will likely feel once we get that new little one home. - ----- Original Message ----- From: Clay Chilcoat Date: Thursday, June 27, 2002 11:58 am Subject: Re: Wedding Songs > At 11:49 AM 6/27/02 -0400, you wrote: > >In a message dated 6/27/2002 11:44:19 AM Eastern Daylight Time, > >MPorth@forrester.com writes: > > > > > > > What shouldn't! > > > > > >How 'bout "Maylee, I Had A Dream" > > or "One" ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 28 Jun 2002 06:47:31 -0700 From: "Ron Rosen" Subject: DVN Saw DVN last night. Very funny and a very nice bunch of guys. I talked to Richard before and after the show (a little about EFO [including the late-night cell-phone call to McCabe's], who were mentioned from the stage), and Paul briefly, and the guy who does the "soul" stuff briefly. A female singer, Amy, from The Bob's came on stage and sang the "girls" part from "Pull My Finger." My favorite was "Allie McBeal" to the tune of Like a Rolling Stone. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 28 Jun 2002 14:04:39 EDT From: Just1duk@aol.com Subject: Re: Wedding Songs Congrates about the baby. Sounds like another verse in the making... "looking out the..." Oh, nevermind -- this is a family show. My wife and I made a couple of mix tapes for labor when our son was born (two weeks after Liam). It included If I Had a Boat, Jerusalem, Woman of Faith, Over the Hills (a Led Zep cover from Bad Habits), and a whole bunch of other EFO songs, as well as Eva Cassidy, Enya, Poi Dog Pondering, Cassandra Wilson, ... I wish I could find the playlist somewhere in a home full of toddler toys. - -Paul P. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 28 Jun 2002 13:50:36 -0500 From: Kristen Nelson Subject: Re: Wedding Songs On 6/28/02 8:39 AM, "githenss@georgetown.edu" wrote: > Speaking of EFO for special occasions, I am due (any minute now, I > swear) to have my first child. Our first child was born to EFO, but that was pre-Quick. I think she entered the world to "Old Dominion" (We are transplanted Virginians....now residing in Wisconsin) I'm due with my second child in September. But I'm not sure how "Quick" a labor I want this time, so I might just stick to the older stuff! My wife had our first child on May 1st of this year. I had a selection of CDs, including a couple EFO, to play during the birth. Alas, after two days of attempted induction they finally yanked the kid out via Cesarean. Things were way to hectic in the OR to deal with CDs. Now I just need to burn a CD of songs about windows to remind me of the birth. Oh, nevermind -- this is a family show. Okay, I'm no Mike or Robbie, but since I got a few requests off-list: Something new is happening, I see the light shining through, Ever since the epidural, everyone's calling for you, But with one big push, and a twist of my shoulders, I'll be wrapped in a blanket, before I get colder. I'll let out a cry and start breathing the air Hear them give me my name Feel the warmth from the other side It isn't quite the same But in my mommy's arms is where I want to be! It's the fifth of July... Congratulations and best wishes! Parenthood is wonderful! - -Paul P. ------------------------------ End of edheads-digest V5 #144 *****************************
