I was curious if any edheads were lucky in the casino? I am usually not a gambler, but I walked in with $20 and walked out with $200. Enough to cover the extra bill on the ship. I felt I was lucky playing the slots, but luckier to be on board with all the great EFO fans. Wow. Go Father O'! I don't have the gambling gene. I'm too cautious. Basically all I'm willing to bet is equivalent to how much I would pay for that much entertainment elsewhere. Like, if I'd be willing to pay $50 for a few hours of entertainment, I'd be willing to play $50 in a casino if I could stretch it to a few hours of entertainment. I don't consider that a risk, it's payment for services. :) But to start really taking chances...*shudder*...I just don't have it in me. :) - -Andrea K (Lurky Fruhead with Edhead tendencies. :) ) Quoting JRaimo007@aol.com: > I managed to break even. We had a great time on the cruise, but we pretty disappointed in the food and some of the service (which was really tainted by the de-embarkation process) and we were just a little frightened of the mannequins and other non-Edhead cruisers. Booking meetings at hotels for a living, I'm not sure that it would be 2-3 times as expensive plus food. There are definitely group deals you can get and many types of vacation spots, and it can be set up in lots of different ways in regards to what is and isn't included. Ironically, I received a meeting planner's package for Nassau and Paradise island just before we set sail. I think looking into someplace like a Sandals all inclusive resort, where people would still be somewhat contained and there would be lots of activities and booze (which are included in the price) wouldn't be a bad idea. I know by time we paid for out on-shore activities and when we saw out final bar tab, it was a lot more than we bargained for anyway, so why not know the price is higher right from the start. (This suggestion by no means volunteers me as the Edhead meeting planner - I'm no travel agent!) Cheers! Jen "Sh**faced" Schimmenti PS - I didn't win or lose any money, seeing our first day/nights bar tab cured me of any need to go in the casino. _________________________________________________________________ Join the worlds largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 29 May 2002 13:35:33 -0400 From: rhiannon richard Subject: cruise and stuff hmmmmmm. i have never been on the cruise. and this is for one reason only... i can't afford it. if efo did some other type of trip that was a little cheaper, i would definitely be there. but including airfare and the price of the cruise and spending money, it was just too much for this college student. And i really wanted to go too (it being over my 21st birthday AND getting to hear schoolhouse rock). i think that skiing sounds like fun. but somehwere that has other stuff than just skiing. you know, ice skating, a NICE lodge, a spa, stuff like that. stuff that non-skiiers can do. but unfortunately i just don't think it would have the turn-out that the cruise would have. and i agree that the cruise is the best idea of them all. i guess i'll just have to wait 'til i when the lottery. - -rhiannon "Caroline dreams That's all she'll ever do If she doesn't wake up Won't her dreams come true?" -the nields! ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 29 May 2002 14:13:28 -0400 From: Ellen Buckley Subject: Re: cruise options and rates jen studt wrote: > > I think looking into someplace like a Sandals all inclusive > resort, where people would still be somewhat contained and > there would be lots of activities and booze (which are > included in the price) wouldn't be a bad idea. yeah, so i don't really have much to add to this conversation; i didn't go on the cruise because i couldn't afford it. it sounds like it was great, but then some of the other ideas proposed sound great, too. i just wanted to say, doesn't *this* look cool? http://cabinconcerts.com/gettysburg.htm what would you have to do to snag one of those 32 spots, though? they'd go realllly fast for a weekend in the woods with EFO, i'd bet. ;) peace, ellen (hey kids, if you go to grad school, you too can be 32 years old and still paying off student loans!) ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 29 May 2002 14:45:23 EDT From: SUZSNSHNE@aol.com Subject: Re: cruise options and rates I was a passenger on the first cruise and had a blast - however, I am in a similar trade as Jen and I do believe that she has a valid point.
