What a show! Tom Paxton is a giant of the 60s folk scene having written such songs as The Last Thing on My Mind, Ramblin' Boy, Bottle of Wine, and What Did You Learn in School Today? Anne Hills has a great voice and who wrote some excellent songs that they did tonight. They also did songs by Malvina Reynolds ("God Bless the Grass" - about grass overcoming the cement of the sidewalk as a metaphor for truth spreading in spite of suppression), Richard Farina ("Birmingham Sunday" about the 1963 bombing of the Birmingham Baptist Church), Kate Wolf (A Link in The Chain) and Len Chandler, who was in the audience (Green, Green Rocky Road). This was a real throwback to the early days of 60s folk. Paxton wrote so many great folk standards, and the playing and singing by these three talents was excellent. If you have a chance to see this show, don't miss it. It was one of the best shows I've seen ! ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 20 Apr 2002 09:59:22 -0700 (PDT) From: nichole Subject: FR tickets!!!! WOOHOO!!!!! I've already added three songs, Old Dominion, Minnesota 1945, and Irish Dream. I'm planning on adding more, so check it out and tell me what you think.... http://jjrrutgers.tripod.com/EFOTab.html - - John J. My fiance and I are looking into creating the definitive efo site -- complete with lyrics, tabs, and hopefully some shows... and all the other goodies we can think of. However, there are some legal issues we need to look into first - -- particularly getting approval to do so. A lot of tab & lyrics sites are being shut down because of copyright infringement. I'll let you know when we starting really digging into things -- because all the help we can get would be most appreciated! - -erika ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 20 Apr 2002 16:05:48 -0700 From: "Ron Rosen" Subject: Re: let's try this AGAIN > can think of. I would think the first, and really only thing to do is ask the band. If they say it's ok - then it's ok. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 20 Apr 2002 22:17:11 -0400 From: "John Ryan" Subject: EFO Songbook Update! This rocks! Thank you! I play guitar but I'm quite musically challenged when it comes to learning songs by ear. A million thanks to all who contributed.
