Just ask any volunteer where it is and they should be able to point you in the right direction. Getting in and out isn't toooo much of a problem...just make sure your car is next to the road. Actually getting out of your parking space is the most difficult. The people are generally friendly. Though people can get a little pushy and snotty when it comes to space right in front of the stage. But if you're not looking for up close seating, then that should be no problem. People are also generally respectful with their legal and illegal activities. There is definitely some pot smoking going on, and some drinking. But it's generally kept within certain campsites, and hardly noticeable. I know that Jonie and Henry (you guys on this list, or just the nields?!) have been taking their son Jamie the last couple of years. He was really young (though not an infant?) the first time I met him there. Last year he did get sick, and they ended up having to leave, but as far as i know they didn't have any problem getting out. There is also a first aid tent that would be helpful for little problems like cuts and scratches. DEFINITELY don't forget the sunscreen, for the baby and for yourselves. And something to keep the baby shaded with and cool, 'cause the sun can be horrible. If you decide to camp the lower camping is more crowded, but not too bad. The upper camping is GORGEOUS but it is way way up a hill. However, there is a shuttle that runs. Even with the three day pass including camping, you can still come and go as you please. If you're planning on getting a hotel, however, you need to do it soon. That is the one thing that sells out fast. Putting thousands of people into one tiny town tends to overfill hotels quickly. This all said, I think that FRFF is a GREAT experience. And I will definitely be there this year! yay!!!' - -rhiannon "Caroline dreams That's all she'll ever do If she doesn't wake up Won't her dreams come true?" -the nields! ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 16 Apr 2002 21:10:36 -0400 From: Shawn McCausland Subject: Cruise Someone asked if there was anything they should take on the cruise. A few suggestions: 1. Very little in the way of personal belongings - a few clothes and a camera ought to do it. Everything else is taken care of. 2. An idea of what you want to do while in port. I guess this may apply only if you're a control freak like me, but I didn't research or plan very well and regretted it - didn't get to walk around Atlantis (the mondo hotel across the harbor) or do the really cool snorkeling trip. The ship-arranged outings are fairly decent, but it may also be worth your while to arrange something on your own away from the touristy areas. 3. A healthy dose of skepticism. The only thing that riled me about the first cruise was that the cruise line kept coming up with ways to part me from my money, since I already paid a hefty sum for the room. Don't believe them when they tell you that you can't take your own bags on board the ship or similar such things - it's just a scam to get you to tip yet another worker. I'm not saying to shortchange these guys, just be careful what you believe. That's pretty much it. Y'all are going to have the time of your lives - the interaction with fellow fans and the band members themselves is indescribable. Have a great time!
