Also Atlanta, last June. That was an interesting one for me, I'm a New Englander by nature, I was there visiting my father and took him to the concert, the Atlanta crowd was *so* different from a Boston crowd. My daughter is a fan of NICKEL CREEK so I accompanied her to their concert Friday night. Now I never heard of EFO which is suprising as I am a ollector of folk music. Therefore I had no idea what to expect. They blew me away with the first song and now I want more. Does anyone have any CD-R's they would like to sell? In trade I can offer JOHN DENVER and TRACY CHAPMAN. I'm hoping that someone will respond to this request backchannel. As a left-coaster, I have neither seen nor heard the two Johns. I can understand a band having a guest or two sit in every now and then. I don't understand, however, why EFO would, in effect, add two members at this point in their career. It would seem that very successful bands that no longer need to worry about money would add members, but I wouldn't think EFO is yet in that category. As Tom pointed out, additional members also change the chemistry and can change the connection with the audience. When a band like Hot Tuna adds a new member or changes the instrumentation to enhance or just change the musical experience, it is understandable, because the main members are financially secure and at this point are just out there having fun. But I don't understand EFO's thinking. What do others think? ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 14 Apr 2002 11:45:20 EDT From: JohnEBongo@aol.com Subject: Re: Two Johns In a message dated 4/14/2002 10:39:38 AM Eastern Daylight Time, ronsopas@earthlink.net writes: > > I was wondering what everyone thought about the two johns... I have been following EFO since the beginning at Bad Habits and the addition of the two Johns definitely has an adverse impact on their live performances. I was very excited about their return to the Birchmere after Julie's latest birth(their first shows after a long break are usually their most raw and primal and just plain awesome). However, I came away very disappointed. They didn't seem as into their music and they seemed distracted by having the two Johns on stage with them, which led to a lost connection with the audience. I really hope that they do not continue to have the two Johns play with them all the time.
