Well, for those who are sad about missing Dashboard Confessional in Boston, I went, and honestly, you didn't miss much. *He* was great. The venue (Worcester Palladium) was not-- bad bad sound. Also, a bit too many people, in my opinion. Cath him again somewhere else that isn't the Worcester Palladium. The next concert I'm really looking forward to is T.W. Walsh, Damien Jurado, and Pedro the Lion (mostly emo stuff)-- playing at the Middle East Club in Boston on May 4. I *would* be looking forward to EFO, except I'll be in dirty, rotten, stinkin' Florida at some silly theme park this weekend. heh. This is the most depressing discussion ever. I propose a change of topic: How many other people have absolutly NO LIFE WHATSOEVER? I could post a list of DVDs I plan to rent over the next few weeks, I suppose. I am going to EFO at The Somerville Theater this Saturday but that's it until sometime around 2020. Great topic! It's also great to see the number of different concerts that people go to. I believe two people said they were also going to see Ozzfest, so how would that make EFO feel that some of their fans are also Ozzfest fans? I love a band that has a wide variety of fans, it says a lot about that. Here's my concert list for just 2002 alone: 1/1/02 - They Might Be Giants / Mighty Mighty Bosstones - Baltimore, MD (Really on New Year's Eve) 1/19/02 - Dream Theater - NY, NY 1/24/02 - Robbie Schaefer / DVN - NY, NY 2/8/02 - People Are Wrong! I get the feeling that most of the people into EFO come from the "east coast folk" tradition, and know a lot of groups that I am not familiar with. I, on the other hand, come more from the "newgrass" tradition, so I'm more familiar with, say, Gillian Welch, Tim O'Brien, Jerry Douglas, Sam Bush, and Nickel Creek than I am with the Paperboys. The next show I attend should be Todd Snider and Amy Rigby. Memorial Day weekend I will, as always, be attending the Strawberry Music Festival (http://strawberrymusic.com), which is in an incredible location, and features many of the same artists as such festivals as Winterhawk and Falcon Ridge. I'd REALLY like to see EFO play there. If any of you folks know about some of these musicians, speak up. I'm familiar with some, and I've heard of others, and still others are total mysteries to me.
