Hi... I'm John... and I'm an Edaholic. =20 Well, it's more then that, I'm really a musicaholic. I guess I should talk about how I got into Eddie from Ohio, but, in order to do that, we have to go through the WABAC machine back to when I lived near Boston 4 or 5 years ago. My music tastes were just blossoming into the wide range they are now, when, after reading Stephen Brust's The Gypsy, I decided to take a chance on Boiled in Lead, a celtic rock band from Minneapolis. I liked them. I bought more CDs. I heard they were playing in Boston (Somerville, actually) at Johnny D's (http://www.johnnyds.com). Well, after seeing them there and looking at the list of other bands playing (which ranged from folk to funk to latin dance to texas swing) I started to broaden my range (to bands like Babaloo, Superhoney). About that same time, maybe a year earlier, Jimmy Buffett (yes, I am a parrothead too) started the Margaritaville record label and I was looking at bands there, and one particular act really caught my ear (ok, two. Iguanas were pretty cool too), Todd Snider. Fast forward a couple years. I'm now living in Charlotte, NC. I hear that Todd Snider is playing in Charlotte (see, it all comes together) at the Neighborhood Theatre. Thrilled, I go up, have a nice dinner and walk in to buy my tickets. [Aside: Ok, this is really rambling bit of talk. Please forgive me :)] Turns out, Todd is sick and won't be playing that night, but he rescheduled. Something about the rescheduled date concerns me. When I get home, I realized that's the date I'm performing a wedding for a friend. Whoops, ok, guess I'll miss Todd (I did eventually get to see him on his next trip there. GREAT show). While I'm hanging out, I check out the Neighborhood Theatre's website (http://www.neigborhoodtheatre.com) and start looking at who else is coming soon. Lo and behold, I find this group called Eddie from Ohio. Well, I go searching for some MP3s and, thanks to bootleggers and tapers, I find things I like. So, there it started. At least, my addiction for Eddie from Ohio. I've seen EFO twice. First time, I brought a couple friends to the show and they loved it. Second show, they couldn't make it, but one of them expressed fear since EFO was the same night as the Harry Potter release. A few months before the second show, I was offered a new position, located in Seattle. I couldn't turn it down. Luckily, the show was just before Thanksgiving, so, I took a little vacation, flew to Charlotte to see the EFO show, visit some friends, then flew back home to Massachusetts to visit family and then back here to Seattle. Looking at the newly released schedule on pollstar, I'm hoping for a show at the end of April after the Davidson, NC appearance just so I can cross country one more time to see EFO. :) Maybe I'll show up at Telluride for the Blue Grass festival too. CDs currently in my player [well, ok, they are actually the few CDs I've bought since my move, since all my other 400+ CDs are in storage] [and, ok, they aren't really in my player, they've been ripped to mp3s on my laptop]: WBCN Naked 2000 Dave Matthews - Under the Table and Dreaming Beastie Boys - Anthology: The Sounds of Science Soundtrack - The Lord of the Rings Soundtrack - Go Six Degrees Collection - Asian Travels Dr. Didg - Serotonality Eddie from Ohio - Quick Moby - Play Buckshot LeFonque - Music Evolution The Cure - Greatest Hits (with the Bonus CD) Groove Armada - Goodbye Country (Hello Nightclub) Gourds - Ghosts of Hallelujah Gourds - Dem's Good Beeble Big Iz - Facing Future Well, I've babbled enough and wasted enough of my work hours. =20 Keep safe everyone and have a good today and a pleasant tomorrow.=20 - -john ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 01 Feb 2002 21:00:34 EST From: SUZSNSHNE@aol.com Subject: Eddie on TV So, Washingtonian Edheads!!! Anyone catch our own Eddie Hartness on this past Wednesday morning's Fox 5 Morning show? The original premis of the segment was to highlight Lyon Park, the area of Arlington where Eddie lives. After they did the corny stuff, they brought on Eddie and introduced him as Lyon Park's own celebrity from the band "Eddie from Ohio". The reporter was excited about the Ohio part since she is "Holly from Ohio". Eddie told the abbreviated version of how they got the name and then gave his mom credit too since she is originially from Ohio. Anyway, he seemed a little nervous, but as the interview continued he was very comfortable and confident. The reporter was really excited about "Eddie from Ohio" and Eddie was able to give many plugs. He was awesome! Unfortunately the interview was very short but Eddie got to talk about the upcoming Birchmere shows and the cruise. By the way, kudos to Channel 5 for surprising Eddie with clips from their 1997 appear! ance at the Herndon Festival! Sorry if you all missed it but there are recordings here and there. All the best- Susan (Who's 30th Birthday was the last night of EFO's stint at Bad Habits) ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 1 Feb 2002 23:39:23 EST From: YourPalCM@aol.com Subject: Bryn Mawr show from 10/27/01 Is there any chance that someone recorded the 10/27/01 show at The Point in Bryn Mawr, PA? If so, please email me privately. Thanks a bunch!!! Your Pal, Chris Mal ------------------------------ End of edheads-digest V5 #12 ****************************
