I think I may have my laptop set up to record the upcoming Carrboro show. My question is what kind of connectors do I need to hook up to the board? My best friend and I have had plans to go on both Edhead cruises. The first one was two weeks before her wedding, so we didn't go. We had plans to go in May, but she just cancelled on me! (I know you're thinking, "some best friend"!) I've been out of the email loop for about 2 weeks, so I don't know how much the cruise has been discussed. I'm looking to see if someone would be interested in sharing a cabin-2 or 4 persons-female preferrable. If you are interested, drop me a line. Different venues have different boards - you could call the venue and ask what the available output options are. There are three common types of outputs from soundboards, and I see all three on a regular basis: 1. RCA connectors (L/R) - (aka "coaxial") - male cable to female board; 2. XLR connectors (L/R) - not shown on the above site - three prongs - usually female cable to male board; 3. 1/4" connectors (L/R) - (aka "phono plug" or "phono jack") - models 2109/2110/2111on the above site - male cable to female board. Of course, the other end of the cable will have to be whatever your laptop requires. Your local Radio Shack will have cables and adapters for RCA and 1/4", as well as 1/8" miniplug cables if that's what you need for the laptop. The XLR cable is more difficult to find in a store. If there is a taper on this list that has taped at Carrboro, they will probably know what the board offers. All you need to do is call the airline and >tell them that you know that the fare is less I've had this happen (fares dropping on the same flight), but I've always had to pay a $100 change fee in order to get the refund -- the airline considered it a new ticket even if nothing changed but the fare. The refund was by voucher, not cash, too. So unless the ticket price dropped by more than $100, I was out of luck getting any kind of refund. I would call and talk to the airline you're thinking of flying *before* booking a ticket just to check their policy. And because customer service answers can vary depending on the person you talk to, you may want to call twice. (I'm not trying to dispute Gary's answer, just stating what's happened to me on at least two different flights in the last year and a half.)
