Send them an e-mail ahead of time? Send them a hand-written request on fine stationary? Shout out "Free Bird" loudly while they're tuning? Are there any songs they'll absolutely refuse to play no matter how nicely you ask? Seriously, I'd like to hear "North Pacific Rain" one of my favorite songs that I've never, ever heard them play at any show I've been too. thanks for your advice, Liam _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 11 Oct 2001 10:32:17 -0400 From: "John Ryan" Subject: Re: Re:requests Once I did get a band to play a request simply by shouting it out. It was the ska band Reel Big Fish. Everyone was yelling for them to play their A-Ha cover Take On Me, but I just yelled once for their instrumental "241". Right after I said it, they introduced the song and played it. How awesome is that? Generally, I don't ask for requests at shows. I figure what's on the set list is what they are going to play, and they won't stray from it, much. And as Moxy Fruvous said at one of their shows when someone constantly requested a song, "Well now, if we play your song, what are going to do for the rest of the show?" I guess e-mail would be the best way to ask for a song, especially if the band reads their e-mail like EFO does. - ----- Original Message ----- From: Liam Sullivan To: Sent: Thursday, October 11, 2001 10:16 AM Subject: Re:requests > An awesome show, even by EFO standards--certainly made my Top Something > list. The first video up on the page is a stirring rendition of "Oh my Brother" recorded live at the Somerville Theatre on April 22, 2001. Additional videos will be added in the upcoming months. The video is available in realplayer, QuickTime, and windows media player formats for 56k dial-up modem users and cable/DSL users. the page can be accessed by going to www.hakmusic.com and clicking on the Eddie from Ohio link. Also, there is a new video up on the Nields web page! The video for "Tomorrowland" was recorded at the March 3, 2001 Iron Horse show that many of the songs for "Live From Northampton" and "Come on in and play" came from, but does not appear on either release. coming soon: a Tom Landa and the Paperboys video page and new videos for the Kennedys video page! also, if you haven't already done so, you can check out "images of Falcon Ridge 2001," on the hakmusic home page, and see samples of "Come on in and Play," the Nields video CD, which is available through Bulletproofstore.com thanks! I hope you enjoy the videos. Harry harry@hakmusic.com ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! I would venture to guess that if they don't get the request sometime before the show, it's too late. At least, I've never seen them play anything requested via note on stage unless it was already on their setlist. On the other hand, I haven't had much luck requesting stuff at shows the day before, either. I find it usually works better to hope that Nicole's requests correspond with mine ;) So there you have it. E-mail Nicole your request, and make sure she's at the show to work her voodoo magic on the band. I'm sure she'll be delighted at the avalanche of free concert tickets she'll receive... Eric P.S. Nicole, if you happen to be in Michigan around springtime, I'll cover the concert tickets, along with a fistful of requests... P.P.S. Anyone else notice that Mike has a cheat sheet for Tommy the Canexican on his guitar? I swear I've seen it before, too. Is Tommy an older song than I thought? I don't remember hearing anything about it before Quick came out. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 11 Oct 2001 12:57:50 -0500 From: "Rob Sullivan" Subject: Re: requests Liam asked if there are any songs EFO won't play. The only one I know of, besides the Schoolhouse Rock Medley, is Continents of Time. It's one of my favorite songs, but they don't play it live. As I understand it, there is an instrument (a penny whistle or something) they used on the CD but they can't use live because they don't have anyone to play it. That may not be exactly right, but they do have some legitimate musical reason for not playing the song. - -----Original Message----- From: owner-edheads@efohio.com [mailto:owner-edheads@efohio.com]On Behalf Of Liam Sullivan Sent: Thursday, October 11, 2001 9:17 AM To: edheads@efohio.com Subject: Re:requests An awesome show, even by EFO standards--certainly made my Top Something list.
