What a tremendous show... Ellis did 'The Ballad of Chris McCandless'...and barely into the song, he broke a string...so paused to replace it, and while doing so, sang an a cappella number...then resumed the song...and then promptly broke another string...and yelled "JANE!!", calling to Susan Werner's road manager for help, who came out to take the ornery guitar, followed by Susan, who brought out hers for him to use...he did another number, then took an audience poll on rather to re-do the Chris McCandless tune - of course everyone yelled 'YES'...and then he told the story behind it and performed it from the beginning flawlessly with no breakage. He said that the record for breaking strings in one song was 3, held by Hank Aaron. :-) EFO, 2 shows, the Ark, one week from right now!!!!! The impression I got from this was that the author felt he did not have enough material for a book or it was too short & so he threw the last chapters in to fill it out. Therefore, when he stops writing about McCandless & starts writing about others, you can stop reading if you want. Guess the thought police can't catch them all, eh? Using their (NOT Mine!) mental process for banishment that song would have very offensive lyrics like "Sweet dreams & flying machines & pieces on the ground" "There's always the time on the telephone line" & "I've seen fire & I've seen rain". What was it that is paved with good intentions like Clear Channel Communications's? On Tue, 18 Sep 2001 21:43:45 -0500 "Sara" writes: > You have got to be kidding me. This is ridiculous.
