Not by Moslem-Americans, but by fundamentalist Moslem fanatics.[...] OK, it's clear what you're saying. Where I am tonight, I couldn't really agree that wanting to keep innocent people safe is a "side issue," but I think I do understand what you mean. In no way did I mean to lead the list into a debate about foreign policy, and I won't go there. Really my original point is that it's not much of a leap from "kill all the Arabs over there" -- which no one on the list is arguing for, of course -- to "kill or at least badly hurt some Arabs over here." And I'm not talking about foreign policy. What I'm saying is that we've become used to EFO and Starbucks and microwaves. What I'm saying is, that the threat, by whoever is behind it, and they are only a small minority of psychopaths - but they have power and they have the power to do so unaccountable damage (which could make Tuesday look like a picnic) - and they ultimately have the power to make our lifestyle change in ways you never imagined. People need to take this seriously. I know what you're saying, but, what I think has happened here is that Japan has just attacked Pearl Harbor, and you're worrying about your Japanese neighbor, when you don't even know whether you'll have a country before it's all over. (Of course the internment camps were wrong, and we're not going to do a similar thing here.) I'm just trying to put things in perspective, because I'm very concerned that many of us have lost our center about what's really important and what's at stake. It's fine to have the luxury to bash the fatherland when times are good. Times are no longer good. ------------------------------ End of edheads-digest V4 #199 *****************************
