The main thing I like about Mesolithic is the way they sing it. A couple of the jokes are amusing, but overall if it were just the lyrics I'd find that song boring or mildly annoying. But Julie and Robbie are so perfect in their parts, they make it worthwhile. I don't know, given how many songs Mike has written that are so much wackier and funnier and more interesting, lyrically, it may just be that this one was intended as a vehicle for Julie and Robbie to sing those parts so well, and that's why they kept it. I don't think Quick, as a whole, is ever going to compete with Fishbowl in my mind. But I'll still enjoy it and listen to it, and a few songs (such as the title track) are excellent. The feeling I get from this album is that it's less of a musical force and more of an in between collection of fast, quirky, cute songs, almost like fruvous's b and c albums. I don't think EFO intended it that way, but that's probably the role it'll play in my personal conception of the EFO discography. Fishbowl is still the musical masterpiece, and portable is still the one I'll be giving all my friends, and listening to most. But I'll be happy to hear Quick, and I'll be happy to see Quick songs performed in concert. -- Cos (Ofer Inbar) -- cos@polyamory.org http://cos.polyamory.org/ -- WBRS (100.1 FM) -- info@wbrs.org http://www.wbrs.org/ "So you're one of Jehovah's Witnesses. I'm pretty sure they've said in intros to the song that it's about Robbie's uncle (or some other relation, don't quite recall), who was a missionary in . Bangladesh, maybe. Wherever Dacca is, most likely. He went through many hard times over the past 30 years being a priest, where Catholicism is a small minority. He almost lost his life to a sword being run through him (mentioned in lyrics), and had worked with Mother Teresa in extending the Catholic missions west of Calcutta into Bangladesh, where Dacca is the capitol, and where he now still serves the whole community and church.
