The coolest moment: they did a traditional Irish blessing a capella to close the show, I'm sure some of you guys have heard it before. Anyway, when they finished there were a couple of seconds in which all 7,000 people at Wolf Trap were COMPLETELY SILENT. I mean completely. I thought that was pretty neat. - -T ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 28 Jul 2001 10:37:15 -0400 From: "Paul & Nancy Brown" Subject: Re: another newbie to the list Dawn, Another place to check is their booking agent's site at www.flemtam.com Paul - ----- Original Message ----- From: To: Sent: Saturday, July 28, 2001 12:34 AM Subject: another newbie to the list > I've been listening to EFO for almost the full 10 years now but only joined > this list last week. wow, lively "discussion" - for lack of a better word. > I love EFO and continue to recruit people in any new city i move to...they of > course turn into instant ed-heads. couple questions hoping someone can > answer please.... > > 1. That WAS very nice.. I think that song is on Julie's solo CD, No Rules? Both of her CDs are great! I often wish she'd do some solo stuff, or that the band would at least do some of her songs (*ahem ahem No Rules*!). They did one a year or so ago at the Birchmere- Life Goes On Without You- that totally FLOORED me, and inspired me to get No Rules in the first place! For more info on that show and venue, check out www.a2ark.org. That would be great if EFO would play Grand Rapids. Are there any venues in GR that would suit EFO and the size of their audience? Well, so far we have established that 1) Some people don't love Quick 2) Some people don't love that other people don't love Quick. I would like to jump on board as representing option 3!! I really like Quick a lot, and am sorry to hear that others don't feel the same way LOL! Actually, I thought I was a member of option 1 until I actually BOUGHT the CD. I mean- I could understand how Mesolithic and Monotony might get old after awhile.. I thought maybe the songs were too gimmicky. I've always preferred the songs that have some meaning, but aren't downright HEAVY, like This My Town.. But no, I was wrong! I like the CD a lot! It may fall pretty low on the list of my favorite EFO CDs of all time, but I can STILL listen to it all the way through without skipping over any "weak" songs. That is a VERY RARE thing in the music business today! Everyone always has that one HOT SINGLE that they'll push, and then you buy the CD, to find out that all other tracks were a waste of your money! The cool thing about EFO is that no matter what the songs are about, the music is so fun to listen to (with the exception of Monotony, maybe.. But the words TOTALLY carry that song!). I'm not trying to say that EFO can do no wrong with me, I'm just saying they haven't done any wrong with QUICK ;-) JMO, of course!
