The band is trying out some new things and I have to admire them for experimenting and heading in new directions, even if I'm slightly unsatisfied with the immediate payoff. Still I think we as EFO have great things to look forward to. Besides, I feel that EFO is primarily a LIVE band, so their albums are not as important to me as long as they do a kick ass show. And on that note, I hope that all of you who are going to Wolf Trap tonight have a great time. I want to see this "fan discussion" list put to good use with summaries, opinions, and stories from Wolf Trap. I know I will be writing my Falcon Ridge report in a couple of days. So relax, enjoy the show, and remember that your brothers & sisters on this listserv share the same passion that you do, ... so SHARE and share alike! - -Liam _______________________________________________________ Send a cool gift with your E-Card http://www.bluemountain.com/giftcenter/ ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 27 Jul 2001 19:08:44 EDT From: Lilfurson@aol.com Subject: Another one out of the cracks Hello all I too would have to agree i like hearing both the good and the bad. With that i just want to put in my personal cheers to the members of EFO for the actual cd case. I love it. I think it is an amazing thing. I have too many normal jewel case cd's and i like the way they put the package together. OK, going back into lurker mode :-) Everyone have a great time at FRFF and thanks to the whole EFO crew for making some kick ass music Christopher ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 27 Jul 2001 16:09:02 -0700 (PDT) From: Liam Sullivan Subject: Re: Quick review Oh, and to say you can't judge the song b/c you don't write songs is crap. There are plenty of bands that, to me, sound like crap and i have a right to think that just as you have a right to like it. Its called an opinion. Its what it sounds like to YOU. Agreed. I can't throw a baseball to save my life, but I can tell you that Pedro Martinez is a great pitcher, and Steve Traschel is not. Furthermore, I can tell when Pedro is having an occasional bad game. EFO are the Pedro Martinezes of folk music, masters of their craft, but occassionally have a bad song. It happens. So what! They're still Hall of Famers in my book. - -Liam _______________________________________________________ Send a cool gift with your E-Card http://www.bluemountain.com/giftcenter/ ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 27 Jul 2001 18:13:35 -0500 From: corbe001 Subject: RE: Quick review Bleh... A bunch of fighting emails again... Negative negative... :-) Just wanted to make the comment that I read the Tortilla Curtain, and was surprised at the difference in the tone of the book vs. the tone in Candido and America. (I really like Boyle, but I think the song was MUCH better than the book). Was wondering if anyone has heard the story behind that song being written? Also just a plea...you guys please post reviews of Falcon Ridge and Wolftrap! I'm stuck in Alabama with Pre-Calculus breathing down my neck. I hope you guys tell some good stories. There are those of us that want to hear them! Yet another question...is it sounding like the band is going to tour in the fall? I've been listening for about three years now, but haven't really been paying attention to their tour schedule for very long. Do they tour all the time with lots of little breaks, or long stretches with long breaks? Everyone have a great weekend!! Esp. if you're going to see any of the shows! I'll save that name - someday I might find a plant that eats poor people and minorities. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 27 Jul 2001 19:16:16 -0400 From: "Nicole Ryan" Subject: RE: EFO: Lighten Up! I hate it when people dis the asparagus twist flavor. ;) - ----- Original Message ----- From: To: edheads@efohio.com Sent: 7/27/01 2:37:35 PM Subject: EFO: Lighten Up! Hi, gang. De-lurking here to say that the free exchange of ideas about a group we're all interested in is a good thing. Let's lighten up and keep the ideas and opinions coming. When I go to Baskin Robbins and tell you, "I like rocky road the best of all. It's better than the new asparagus twist flavor." I'm not saying I don't like Baskin Robbins--I'm just saying I like this flavor better than the others. If someone wants to say they don't like a certain song or disc by our favorite group as much as the others, same thing applies. I think we can agree to disagree about a lot of things. So, hey...lighten up, put some EFO on the disc player and RELAX! Thanks!
