But of course that "line" is subjective. As artists, the members of EFO write songs based on their life experiences. Case in point, we know things about Robbie's sister now that she might not have wanted expressed in song! However, much of the "speculating on the band members personal lives" seems to be based upon information that they have shared themselves in concert. Without wading through the past two week's onslaught of emails, I can't pinpoint what has been based upon their sharing the info, and what is speculation. It is common knowledge that Julie has a young son and wrote "Little Man" for him. I'm not sure where a line was crossed in discussing this. And of course the opinion that a discussion should end is appropriate, to me at least, even if I don't agree. Explaining WHY is helpful to the rest of us. Ah, the limitations of communicating via email. . . There has to be a line somewhere that doesn't need to or shouldn't be crossed. And if this list is so open to opinions and discussion, why can't someone have the opinion that they don't like the current discussion? Here's what happened. I tried booking it out of the city, but still arrived late. The mercy of the trains. I drove up just as they were ending Little Man and beginning Simile Song. They played nearly ALL of Quick! This included two songs they said they hadn't played yet, Candido and Tommy The Canexican. I noticed Clem looking at a cheat sheet for the lyrics. Canexican kinda misses the horns in it, but Candido was beautiful. The band got a kick out of all these little girls dancing in front of the stage in front of Robbie. Clem made a comment that, "You know, Robbie and I have been playing since the 5th grade, and as always, Robbie gets the chicks while I get the smart, intellectuals!" Yeah, smart, intellectuals. They also did another song I haven't heard live before, Santa Margarita. Can I just say how incredible it is that Robbie's guitar sounds just like it does on the CD? Truly beautiful. During Concubine, I got to skank yet again! Sure beats a sit down show. I threw a paper airplane at the end of Quick. Doesn't have the same impact as a bunch of people throwing them though. :( They ended with Great Day with all of the EFO fans up front singing along with gusto. Their encore was Tom Burleigh with the full out sing-along. Oh, EDDIE SPEAKS! He does the intro for Let's Get Mesolithic. So, an awesome show in which I possibly heard some first played songs! I have a feeling they'll do Tom Burleigh with a ton of FRFF performers to close out Sat. night, it's the perfect song for it. See you next week!
