We could show our support in any number of ways. But I think it would be enjoyable (for me at least) to watch their show with people who are as equally obsessed fans as I am. If enough people are interested (or even if only a few are) I would be willing to make a sign or something, and figure out the congregation (where, when, etc) details. At that hour it's quite dark out, and may be difficult to organize anything further than "everyone wave your glowsticks like mad." And it can get pretty chilly... to the point where people are bundled up in everything they brought to the festival. Even if you're enjoying the show with non-EFO fanatics, it's always fun to watch the newbie reaction and hear people exclaim "wow, they're *good*" as the band exceeds all expectations. Honestly, that's one of the things I like best about FRFF. I'll be right next to the mainstage soundboard - look for the flying tribbles. ;) - - Jason On Wed, 18 Jul 2001, nichole wrote: > In case anybody didn't read it in the FRFF schedule thread, I'm re-posting my (brilliant, if I say so) idea. *grin* Anyway, since EFO is playing at night this year (very exciting) I thought it would be awesome if the edheads watched their portion (and dar's/the nield's, if anybody wants) together. People managed lighters last year for Dar's set. If we pick a song before hand that we're almost sure they'll do (Little Man?) and at that song everyone who has a glowstick can crack it then...that was how we did it for Lilith at it looked awesome when bunches of people all over the venue lit up at the same time..it's probably look even better on the hill! kristen > Good luck! For those interested in gather with other edheads, at any point in time, I have an idea. (who knows how well it will work . . .) So anyway, here it is: I am going to decorate some sheets with a giant EDHEAD and maybe make some signs or something, and use this to reserve my spot. (depending on how many are interested, I may bring multiple sheets . . .) They will be in place on the hill (as close to the stage as possible) on friday, even though EFO isn't playing till Saturday. Any edhead will be welcome to sit there and relax for the whole day or just 10 minutes, whatever. But this way we can meet each other. The FR people make you pick up your stuff at night, and reclaim a spot the next morning, so it may be in a new spot. But this way, anybody can see where we are, and if we want ! to get together at night, it will be easier to find us. So, if anybody thinks they might like to take part in this, let me know so I can know how much room we're gonna need. Just a note: since EFO is playing at night, bring really warm clothes. It gets REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY cold at night b/c we're in a valley type thing. Ok, now onto the whole glowsticking idea: the way it works on fte (other mailing list: where I got this idea) is that everybody pops their glowsticks during a specific song, and supposedly waves them rhythmically in the air. Of course, the whole rhythm part doesn't exactly work out (or so I've heard) but that's the idea. The song that Kristen and I were thinking of that would be good for our glowsticking would be Atlantic. it's slow, but it's got a beat. If anybody else seems to think this will be a good song, I am gonna EM EFO and tell them that their beloved edheads have a surprise for them at FR, but it can only occur if they play Atlantic (or whateve! r song we choose). And feel free to glowstick no matter where you are! The effect will still be amazing! OK, that's enough rambling out of me. I hope everybody else is getting as excited as I am! nichole AIM: Poetrygrl8 "I wanna be young, wanna be beautiful, making a small beautiful sound." Landa is apparently the inspiration for "Tommy the Canexican." Dave Carter & Tracy Grammer - duo based in Portland, OR. Dave plays guitar & writes songs based on his dreams. Tracy is an excellent fiddler (I like fiddlers) & sings beautiful harmonies. Magpie - their socially-conscious songs can be a bit new agey & cheesy, but they are earnest and sing beautiful harmonies. Erin McKeown - Providence, RI based, she stole the show at the New Artist Showcase last year. Later on in the 2000 FRFF, they played Erin's album in-between sets & crowds of people were singing along with the CD! She's that good. Mary Gautier - Louisiana style folk/country with tell-like-it-is lyrics. Vance Gilbert - this guy tells the funniest stories. Ocassionally he sings too in his beautiful tenor. I expect everyone knows the Nields and Dar Williams, but if not, you should really take the opportunity to see them for the first time. - -Liam Joe Arlington, VA "when you're talking home you mean the old dominion." _______________________________________________________ Send a cool gift with your E-Card http://www.bluemountain.com/giftcenter/ ------------------------------ End of edheads-digest V4 #136 *****************************
