Someone asked about Tom Burleigh being a relative of Julie. At the last show I was at, the song was introduced as about one of Julie's ancestors who died rather un-heroically. (If this was already answered...my bad, I suck) No one mentioned the picture of Mike on the "Cantering on Fool" page. It scares me... OK, one thought on the CD. I think Monotony works live mainly due to the expressions (or lack there of) on Robbie, Julie and Eddie during the song. I liked it the first time I heard it live...but it's not as cool recorded. After less than a day owning the CD - my faves are Candido and America, The Best of Me, and Quick... so, who is going to wolftrap again? I'm going with a fairly large contingent of EFO virgins. Every person we've taken has fallen in love with them. :-) swb ===== steven nero7997@yahoo.com http://filebox.vt.edu/users/stblack2/ http://verticalhorizonfaq.tripod.com/ Get personalized email addresses from Yahoo! TP in KC I'd like to hear "Revolution," "North Pacific Rain," and "No Left Turns in Jersey." I have heard performed, but would like to hear more often, "Cleo & Tony" and "Gravity." - -Liam PS - I don't think the discussing and reviewing Quick and earlier material is "negativity", just open exchange of ideas, much of which I've enjoyed reading. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 18 Jul 2001 09:31:08 -0400 From: "steve roane" Subject: Fav. tune REM covered that EFO never play..... The harmonica player was Gary Green, who has at least one solo disc out, and also plays with the Terri Allard Trio here in Charlottesville. He's unbelievable on the thing. Or things, to be technical--he's usually got several that he switches between during the course of a tune. I can't remember the sax player's name, unfortunately, but he was absolutely unbelievable as well. I recall Mike saying he'd played with Root Boy Slim (not to be confused with Fat Boy Slim) :) but that's about all I can do on who he was. I believe he was local as well. Overall I love the CD...it will be in my cd player for a long, long time... As for the Spanish at the end of Candido...even before this discussion went on, I was attempting (again with a combination of broken, high-school english and online transalators) to figure out what it says. Well folks, I think we've been looking a bit too deeply. Its right there in English in the song... 3rd line in the song: 'As the campfire dies, my America lies asleep and dreaming of home' Seems like that's the answer, no? I think they could do an awesome "Superman". And as I was walking to work this morning, it ocurred to me that they could probably kick ass with a cover of "Tempted" by Squeeze, one of my most favorite songs ever. Living on the west coast is great, but I yearn to see my favorite bands in concert again. Please, oh please, why don't you guys ever come out to the *right* part of California??? - --- steve roane wrote: > "Superman" or "Strange". > > I would also like to hear Robbie on lead vocals for > "Maps and Legends" and > Julie for "Fall On Me". > > Steve Get personalized email addresses from Yahoo!
