As to the meaning, Robbie told the story at a show. If I have my facts straight, the story is from Robbie's sister's perspective. Robbie's sister grew up with a girl that she just could not stand; Sarah. The feeling still remain as an adult. As Robbie tells the story, after writing this song, his sister swears never to tell him anything again! For me the song is a good bit of "fun" therapy. I think many of us have a "Sarah" in our past. Looking forward to hitting one of the Border's show this week and counting the days to Wolftrap! That's my very favourite live EFO song. > We're planning to go to Boston after setting up camp Thursday afternoon, and then drive down to Virginia in the middle of the night for the Wolf Trap show, and I know I'm going be blasting #6 Driver sometime in the middle of the night...probably when everyone else in the car is wanting to sleep. I'll probably be blasting "Highway 80" from the new Dave Carter/Tracy Grammer album on the way to New York, too. I'm silly with my driving music that way. Last year, when I had to start from California, I made sure to play "Iowa", "Turn the Page", and a couple other songs I forget at the moment in the respective states referred to in the songs. Decided that using John Linnell's State Songs would be a little too easy, though. As for the album, well, hey, I like it. It's great. I think I'm slightly disappointed because I've heard a bunch of these songs live before, and the album doesn't stack up well compared to that. Mesolithic hasn't worn thin on me yet like it seems to have for some others, but Robbie's bass on the album doesn't sound nearly as good as it does live. Likewise, #6 Driver gave me chills the first time I heard it live, and it just isn't quite the same. Best Of Me is probably my favorite song on there, and even it doesn't have the emotion that gets put out in a live show. Oh well. Speaking of live shows, how many of you have heard the new version of the Simile Song? Dunno how long they've been doing it now, but during the last round of shows in the Midwest (Midwest. Snort. Yeah, something 10 hours from the Atlantic ocean and 30+ to the Pacific is Mid-"West".) they introduced it as something they've something that's been reworked during sound checks. It rocks a lot more now, which I suppose is better for energy during live shows, but it sounds kind of, well, modern rock like to me. I couldn't help thinking, "Gee, this kind of sounds like something that could be on an Alanis Morrisette album." Maybe it's just me. Oh, and I keep on expecting Abraham to segue into Moons of Jupiter. I like Jack Can't Cook myself, but I'm always surprised when they play it, since I figure that absolutely no one in the audience ever gets it. Especially since I've never seen them play anywhere near the D.C. area. On a somewhat more positive note, I'd like to say that I've always wanted them to play Fly South live, but I've never heard it. Santa Margherita and Continents of Time would fall into this category too, but they've played them at least once. Anyone else agree? Fishbowl was the first EFO CD I bought and that song instantly stood out for me. It's one of those rare song I could listen to a million times in a row and never get sick of it.
