I spent sunday morning in the emergency room in chapel hill with a severe inner and outer ear infection. then i managed to drag myself to the concert, and had a wonderful time (i was the girl in the halo, incase anybody saw me). the set list was one of the most varied that i've ever heard: this my town irish dream loitering in the lobby 20,000 hearts simile song hey, little man revolution three fine daughters no left turns in jersey number 6 driver eddie's concubine - --------------- train song stupid american quick sahara hot to go (lyle lovett) i dont' think i know me maylee i had a dream one the water is wide (trad.) drum solo -> down on the corner (ccr) operator - ------ old dominion - ----- great day i got to meet a couple of new edheads and see a few old ones again. i went with my friend tish and my boyfriend, corbie. we saw a few other friends there as well. it was great to hear some of the new songs again. corbie told me today that "Hey, Little Man" had been stuck in his head all day long. It was the first time i'd heard Number 6 Driver in quite some time (i still haven't heard monotony in a while). The cover tunes were cool. I love their version of Hot to Go. And The Water is Wide is always a beautiful song. I was not expecting Down on the Corner to follow the drum solo, and it really surprised me. I was also really happy to hear some of the older songs. earlier in the day i had commented to tish "let's listen to big noise, they never play anything off of that album", and then they brought out several songs from it. other old songs- Sahara sounded great. it had never been one of my favourite efo songs...but hearing it live this time really gave me a new appreciation. i've been wanting to hear No Left Turns in Jersey for quite some time. i really wanted them to play it at falcon ridge last year, since we finally knew how true it was. Revolution sounded really good. I hadn't heard Maylee in a while. I miss the band intros in Train. Mike was great at thinking of those, and it was priceless to watch the rest of the band think of one for Mike. Has anyone heard them do these recently? Also, somebody remind me to request Imagine Me sometime soon. It's probably my favourite live EFO song (next to famer brown, but that's a standard)... and i haven't heard it in a while! We hung around and chatted for a little while, but by this point i was having trouble supporting my own weight. Plus corbie and i had a 2 and a half hour drive home (and corbie had another half hour past that). Sorry to anybody that i talked to if i sounded a little distant or disinterested. I was having trouble hearing people talk, and i didn't feel well. It really wasn't intentional! I'm a nice person... damn it. Looks like this is my last efo show 'til falcon ridge. I'll see some of you there! YAY! - -rhiannon ------------------------------ End of edheads-digest V4 #102 *****************************
