Katie(?), well, you know who you are (sorry, I'm terrible with names) : I have your 6/2000 VP show all ready to send you (with Great Day), but due to a series of mishaps (not the least of which was the tornado that hit my neighborhood) I have not been able to access my e-mail at home. If you would please re-send your address, I'll send the CDs to you. Thanks, Berkeley For the rest of you, ask Tom if he'll duplicate the cool labels & inserts on the VP Y2k CDS. In Atlanta we affectionately refer to "the Variety Playhouse" as the VP in 5P...the y2k reference refers to mike troubles *no not that mike! (but he was exceptionally wordy that night) that occured during the encore..It's an ok venue that the band just loves because of the folks that run it. I personally would love to see them move-up to the Earthlink Centerstage so all efo fans can see a web cast of the show + a 1.5$ million upgrade to the board & interior was just completed! It's less a bar like atmosphere..they deserve a really nice place to play in. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 8 Mar 2001 12:59:45 -0500 From: Thomas Ehrhardt Subject: The set list for the Efo Vp show disc from 6&12/00...for those th at asked Since many of you have asked for what's on the cd from the VP shows from 6&12/00, I've decided to post it to the group: *bold are new songs & rare versions of oldies... old dominion, loitering in the lobby, woman of faith, Water is wide, Sahara, Monotony, Very fine funeral, Great Day, #6 driver, Bowling in the hills, Abraham, Santa Margherita, This my town, eddie's solo, 29 ways, Stupid american, Cleo/Tony, Eddie's conc, 20k hearts, 3 fine daughters, 7 Bridges Rd, 1,000 Sara's & Best of me...+lil surprise bits. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 8 Mar 2001 14:51:58 -0500 From: "Kerry Frey" Subject: Washington Post review and Wolftrap tickets sale date Thought y'all would like the following info: http://www.wolf-trap.org says Wolf Trap's 2001 Summer Performances (to date) will be listed on the Web site beginning March 15, 2001. Tickets for these performances will be on sale on April 1, 2001, and they can then be purchased by telephone, online, and in person at the Wolf Trap Box Office. So I conclude that's the sale date for the July 27th show. Also, the Washington Post reviewed Monday's show at http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A32409-2001Mar6.html (full text follows). Eddie From Ohio From D.C.: Local Kids Make Good Wednesday, March 7, 2001; Page C02 Who had any idea 10 years ago that the four local musicians with the whimsical name Eddie From Ohio playing the Washington area's pubs would (1) defy the odds by remaining together for a decade with the original members and (2) become nationally recognized recording artists with legions of fans across the country? But that's the beauty of music, and those who find out about a band early reap the rewards when the outfit evolves into polished professionals. Monday night the quartet opened a three-night, sold-out stand at the Barns of Wolf Trap that was part homecoming and part anniversary celebration. It's easy to see what attracts the crowds: tight four-part harmonies, compelling folk-pop rhythms, and capricious lyrics that make light of heavy subjects. The onstage chemistry and creative energy among vocalist Julie Murphy Wells, bassist Michael Clem, guitarist Robbie Schaefer and percussionist Eddie Hartness is abundant and undeniably charming. Local ringer Jon Carroll sat in on keyboards and accordion, adding impressively restrained chordal textures to EFO's pop sheen. Wells is a jazz singer in a pop band, singing at a near-scat pace on imagery-laden tunes such as "Stupid American" and "Old Dominion." The sonic hooks are not in Schaefer's reliable guitar riffs but in the dynamic hand percussion and drumming of Hartness, matched in lock-sync with Clem's confident bass lines. Hartness's drum solo was a highlight, and that can't be said very often about drummers. Clearly EFO has outgrown its old haunts, and it's fitting that the band's next Wolf Trap appearance will be in the 7,000-seat Filene Center in July. - -- Buzz McClain ) 2001 The Washington Post Company Kerry Frey ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 8 Mar 2001 17:14:40 -0500 From: Thomas Ehrhardt Subject: all good things must come to an end....
