I currently live in Georgia, but have been considering moving to VA for a long time. I was planning on the NoVA/D.C. suburb area because I have a lot of friends there and know a little about the area already. But, I've recently gotten a job offer from a company in Richmond. It just seems like there isn't much to do in Richmond...am I terribly wrong about this? I believe the cost of living is less there, but is that reason enough to move there and give up on NoVA? Like most of you, I'm a very big music fan, and I assume that most big and large acts will make it to the D.C. area, but not necessarily to Richmond. Again, am I wrong about this? Do a lot of you drive from Richmond to D.C. if there's a good show - is this a very long drive? So, basically I'm wondering if you had the choice of NoVA and Richmond - which would you choose? I think it's my favorite EFO song. Julie's voice is absolutely incredible in that song; it gives me chills every time. I've been searching high and low for a copy as well and the closest i came was jcmccain's website (i can't remember the address off hand); he had an MP3 that for some reason I could not download. If you email him at jcmccain@mac.com, he may be able to get it to you. If it works out, please e-mail me too because I would LOVE a copy as well!!!! good luck Kristin ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 19 Feb 2001 12:21:30 -0600 From: Buddy Brannan Subject: Re: Great Day Just so happens that I have a copy of "Great Day" from the FRFF Gospel workshop of last year. Unless we're talking about a different song. If anyone wants it, I can rip it to an MP3 file and send it or post it somewhere or something. - -- Buddy Brannan, KB5ELV | I choose you to take up all of my time. Scott has the "Cruise 2000" 2nd set and "Special" set recordings on MP3. "Great Day" is one of the songs. Xavier From Ohio??? :-) Great venue, great show! The new wild "eminem-ish" XFO featured the smell of boxwoods, gingerbread and Julie in a "folk thong." [ waiting for the groaning to stop ] First of all, what a great space. The Williamsburg, VA library features a really beautiful, acoustically wonderful theatre. I don't think there's a bad seat in the place. Probably not enough of them as the show was sold out. I attended with 2 XFO "virgins" who are now XFO fans. My friend Libby dubbed Julie "The Goddess of Normality." Here's some of my highlights of the show: Joe Murphy's surprise appearance during "Farmer Brown." Even a surprise to his daughter who had forgotten the anniversary gift of a trip to Williamsburg the family gave them. The band dedicated the next song to the Murphy's -- "Very Fine Funeral." :-) The new songs: Best of Me, Hey, Little Guy, Tom Burley's Dead, and Monotony (this is a hilarious song which is even funnier live). All of these songs will be on the new CD. I confirmed that "Great Day" will be on the new cd, plus a few songs they haven't played yet (one called "Quick" and the other "Candida" (not sure about the last one)). 29 Ways & Oh My Brother: Robbie and Julie (respectively) really sang their hearts out. 20,000 Hearts. Not sure why, maybe because it's just such a beautiful song, but the song really made me emotional. Part of it was that I hadn't seen them in almost 3 months and I was just so happy to be in the audience. Eddie's 2 (count 'em 2) solos, the second receiving a standing ovation from the audience. Next up, the The Norva in Virginia Beach (or Norfolk, one of those eastern shore towns). don "It's all Folk music" -- Erin McKeown Don Semmens; Richmond, VA; donsem@concentric.net Visit my Regan Site http://www.concentric.net/~donsem/regan.htm Rob Buck Memorial Scholarship Fund http://gottabuck.org/ ------------------------------ End of edheads-digest V4 #34 ****************************
