If each of the members of EFO have a unique mix in their respective monitors, how do you do that? That would require 5 separate outputs from the board, wouldn't it (4 monitors, one main)? I got to wondering about this late last night while I was listening to a live show I recorded. I used to run sound when I was in college (very poorly, I might add), and I was trying to figure out how you've got that setup. Plus, it must be tough having to monitor that many signals (pun intended). Just curious, Clay Chilcoat P.S. - sorry for such mundane content on a Monday morning. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 22 Jan 2001 11:52:49 -0500 From: Thomas Ehrhardt Subject: Techie question.... The monitor question intrigues this current recording engineer too..but from what I understand it's not Bob that runs these during shows ..I know Jason that sets them up and runs them for EFO at Variety Playhouse..so its' usually a house dealee..the board pretty much changes from venue to venue. I believe Efo uses 3-4 monitor hook-ups set-up similar with Julie's being an exception (vocals) You make it sound more difficult than it really is! they are basically set during sound check & tweaked during the show w/ minimal effort...regards, Tom E ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 22 Jan 2001 20:34:12 -0500 From: "Jason A. Long answer - some places have a separate board for running monitors (Bottom Line for instance.) With that almost anything is possible without jumping through too many hoops. Short answer - AUD SENDS! Even the little 4-bus Mackies have 6 Aux sends and 8 sub outs. The fact that they sound so good night after night without running in-ear monitors is remarkable. - - Jason ------------------------------ End of edheads-digest V4 #12 ****************************
