Hey Folks...I won't ruin what our show was like before Berkeley's post but we had close to 2 hours of EFO!!!! Thanks Guys/gals for doing Hojo's on Waukegan :) Pleasant surprise #1 "best of me" is truly awesome...it kinda went over like a led balloon cause it seemed to hit to close to home for the 30 somethings on dates... "sausage toes" heeheehee... Congrats Edheads for helping Atlanta's finest nab a crack dealer! I haven't seen such precision pointing in my life..great work! Bet that's never happened at an efo show before... More later, Tom ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 11 Dec 2000 12:07:17 -0500 From: "joseph murphy" Subject: EFO in the Classroom Hi Gang: This will represent my initial venture into the EFO chat room so please bear with me and kindly excuse any incorrect spellings or faulty grammar. I am sending you a classroom assignment directed by my great-niece, Tori, who is studying for a Ph.D.,in Journalism. I think her assignment is somewhat creative and contemporary for a classroom exercise.I thought you all might be interested. Before I proceed any further, I must confess that I am somewhat biased regarding the truly outstanding musical talents of EFO. I love them all particularly Julie. So here goes--My great-neice's verbatim assignment is as follows: Public Relations Writing Practice for Final Exam You are a publicist for Eddie from Ohio, an independent contemporary folk music band. The band will play at The ArtsCenter in Carrboro on Dec 17th. You are looking to attract music reviewers from Triangle publications. Write a press release that announces the band's appearance and that will attract attention of local reviewers. Come up with and include two quotes in the release. Let's say this is EFO's fourth appearance at the ArtCenter. For information on the band, see www.efohio.com. (Hint: Look at the text in Bio, Gigs and Press.) Be sure to correct any copy you use from them for sense, grammar, AP style, etc. See the attached for information on the Carrboro Arts Center. For discussion: What would a press kit for Eddie from Ohio contain?? How would you pitch Eddie from Ohio to the Spectator?? To the N&O?? To the Chapel Hill News?? What facts would be on a fact sheet?? Well gang--that's the end. Hope you enjoyed it. Bet that's never > happened at an efo show before... > > More later, Tom > They nabbed a crack dealer?!?!? Tell us more! Hey there. Sorry we didn't hook up. With all this election craziness as the week wore on it was lookin less and less like I was going to get to leave the office Friday night...but it worked out and I did though I got there about 3 or so songs into their set. I had no idea how to find you and the other EdHeads at that point. I hope the burgers and the fellowship were as good as the show! But the EFO angels were smiling upon me...there were two open seats on the front row of the permanent chairs so my buddy and I had great seats! If you spotted a woman wearing a jacket that looked like it was from the Porter Wagner collection, that was me. I had put in an appearance at a Christmas party before the concert--so I trucked out the dual gig/holiday jacket. I was supposed to pick and sing a little at the party but I got out of work late and wanted to see EFO so I made my apologies and came on down to LFP. Anyway, look forward to the next time the band is in town. It was a great show. Sonya-Who is wondering how long it will take "Let's Get Mesolithic" to become a pick-up line! PS And I wanted to ask any of you guys who were involved with the Carlton Fisk hook up if he got the disc. Thanks :) Do you mean the song that goes "The water is wide, I can't cross over/ And neither have I wings to fly/ Build me a boat that can carry two/ And both shall row, my love and I" ? If so, it's a traditional folk song. I've only heard them do this song once (with Lucy Kaplansky, last November), but it was a stunner. If NOT, then it's an unreleased song, so look for it on Album 007 (Ohio, Eddie From Ohio) or whatever they're calling it. :) - --nicole twn ok, back to work... *** "Rides first, THEN food."--helpful advice from the California State Fair commission Visit Nicolopolis! http://wwwcsif.cs.ucdavis.edu/~carlsonn nmcarlson@ucdavis.edu ana.ng@tmbg.org carlsonn@seclab.cs.ucdavis.edu ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 11 Dec 2000 23:46:27 From: "jen studt" Subject: Re: Quick question?
