I met one EFO lister, Jack, who is a very nice guy, had a nice conversation with him. I went to the show with six other people. My suitemate came out a HUGE EFO fan. She'd like them before, but now she is obsessed. She's trying to find a way to make it to the chapel hill show. The set list: Old Dominion One Stupid American Great Day 20,000 hearts Best of Me (new song!) Farmer Brown Very Fine Funeral You and me in a rowboat to rio Jerusalem Tom B. Eddie Solo --> into the little drummer boy thing--> into rolling pin Eddie's Concubine - ------ Silent Night The two new songs are AWESOME. Best of Me is great because it is funny and really really true and sad all at the same time. Tom B. (can't remember the whole last name for that song...) is basically an Irish drinking song for the death of this man (julie's great great great great grandfather or some such thing) who was shot in the head in a battle because he was too curious. I gave the whole band, and bob, halos. If anybody on this list is ever gong to a show that i'm going to be at, and wants a halo, just let me know, you can have one too! Julie walked back into the main room (which was closed off for soundcheck at the time) and said, "rhiannon brought us presents and you HAVE to wear them!". Julie wore hers for the entire show. Eddie put his on for a few minutes but took it back off. I was sad that robbie and mike didn't wear theirs at all. Then they came out for the encore and Mike put his on, looked at robbie and eddie who also put theirs on. Then Julie talked about how they came from rhiannon, and robbie started singing "rhiannon" (by stevie nicks/fleetwood mac, if you don't know). Julie said that it made them feel like faeries, at which point mike almost took his off. They decided that they were buff pixies, not faeries. Very manly is what they decided. Basically this made my YEAR! I am holding to the idea that there is NOTHING better than having your name said from the stage by one of your favourite artists. Oh yeah, and soundman bob wore his for the whole show and afterwards... it looked good on him! Eddie's concubine was superfast and fun last night. I was excited to hear "very fine funeral"... it's always so much fun! And my roomate and I have been singing it for weeks... every once in a while she'll just break out and sing, "all in all it was a very fine" then i sing, "VERY FINE!", then her " all in all it was a" both of us "very fine funeral". As I said, at least two new EFO fans were made last night. My suitemate and my boyfriend both thought that EFO was cool, but now they think that EFO is AWESOME! THey have seen the light. My roomate's boyfriend already liked EFO, but had never seen them live before, now he likes them more. I'm not sure about the other EFOvirgin we brought, but I bet that he liked it too!!! Did anybody happen to tape this show?! I don't think I saw anybody, but I didn't look hard! Okie dokie!!! I'm going to be at the chapel hill/carrboro (depending on how far you stretch your leg) show next week. Let me know if you're going. If you want a halo I'll certainly make you one. And I'd love to meet you. Meeting EFO fans is always a wonderful thing!!! YAY for EFO!!!! YAY YAY YAY! I'm full of more yays than usual today! - -rhiannon ----------------------------------------- "once in a while, you open up just like a child and see things fresh and new. Myself and my party were happily stationed in front of soundman Bob last night for a great show at the Grey Eagle in Asheville, NC. We had been anxiously anticipating the Handelbar show in Greenville, SC (we're all Furman students) but since the Handlebar hasn't reopened the new venue yet, we trekked up to Asheville. The show was well worth the little one hour drive. Julie was as incredibly cute as she always is - she always adds such a carefree note to the shows. I've been so happy lately as Robbie has been playing Jerusalem more. Its such a good song. Mike was Mike - big mouth and all. A friend that was with me asked if he had an unusually wide tongue, or if it always hung out when he sang! Truthfully, we Edheads must admit the humor or Mike's singing! "Best of Me" is awesome. If you haven't heard it yet, you're in for a treat. "Tom Burley" is the tune about Julie's long lost relative that got shot at the raid on Harpers Ferry, VA by John Brown that Rhiannon referred to. An Irish drinking song that made me raise my glass and sway! I think Bob got a kick out of that when he saw me. Anyway, I was disappointed at the length of the show, although it was certainly better than just cancelling the Handlebar show all together. "Number 6 Driver" would have been a nice addition to the encore, in my opinion. They also played a few "holiday tunes" like singing "Rowboat to Rio" to the tune of "O Come All Ye Faithful" and an acapella version of "Silent Night." Great show folks! Thats all from this part of the country! Josh PS - Rhiannon, the halos were quite nice. I saw you down front beaming when they started talking about you. I"m not sure if you remember, but you met me and my girlfriend at the Neighborhood Theater show in Charlotte, NC. The three of us sat down front alone (and cold). Anyway, just thought I'd say hi since I didn't get a chance to talk to you last night! ------------------------------ End of edheads-digest V3 #195 *****************************
