It's dated 1735: The text: "Every step that a man makes beyond a moderate reasonable provision is taking to much from the worthiness of his own spirit; and he that is entirely set upon making a fortune, is all that while undoing the man. He must grow deaf to the wretched, estrange himself from the agreeable" etc... I have found some philosophical peace in it's words during this indecision 2000... I was under the impression that they were very dead. - -jess ____________________Reply Separator____________________ Subject: [EFO]Re: Oklahoma Obeservation Author: Date: 26/11/00 21:54 > : > > > <<<<<> As a kid, I wondered, "An elephant's eye isn't more than one or two > inches > > high, so...I just don't get the point." Here's why I think it works: Have you ever tried to stand eye to eye with an elephant? Their eyes are pretty darned far off the ground. And when Curly sings of the virtue of the morning and the "beautiful feeling" he's including the fact that the corn crop is pretty danged good this year cause not only is it as high as an elephant's eye...(roughly about 7-8 feet up depending on the size of the elephant) "it looks like it's climbin' clear up to the sky!" A moment of hyperbole to be sure...but hey this guy was also getting excited about cows winking at him too. Let him enjoy his beautiful mornin'! ;) Thanks. This has been a nice distraction from the inane level of endless political rhetoric going on elsewhere.
