One of the things one of our volunteers did was contact local music bands for stuff. In the silent auction we had, I got a package of local CDs and stuff they assembled for a hefty sum ;-) EFO stuff was also given out as door prizes, so they were obviously very generous. I traded a T-shirt in one of the door prizes (which I didn't win, it was rigged) for the LOTFB CD in the music package I bought. So, if the band is listening (after they dry off from the snorkeling of course), thanx for being so kind! In a related story, the van full of people I went to Columbus Ohio with (for the USA vs. Costa Rica game) very much enjoyed the LOTFB CD, the driver said he's gonna order it. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 16 Oct 2000 15:25:09 +0000 From: jasonacg@citicom.com Subject: Re: Edheads: Question(s) of the Day > 1) Would you watch a live webcast of an EFO concert? Close to me, so I don't _have_ to see it on the Web. Live and in person is always best. Here are my somewhat experienced answers concerning a web cast for EFO! This *Question post* sounds suspicioulsy like a commercial solicitation to me! I doubt efo would condone a big ticket pay-per-view to see them on a web cast anyway... This whole thing may be mute if "homegrown" happens all the things listed would be free anyway! All Scetv needs is station commitments to have it done. So here are my answers w/ conditions. > 1) Would you watch a live webcast of an EFO concert? NO! Streaming video is still a pretty bad visual medium..and most folks can't get a good quality feed on their home computers...webcasts are great if you are at work/college and have the luxury of using high-speed dsl lines.. > 2) How much would you pay to watch? Nothing! We at SCetv's homegrown are/were willing to offer a live feed of Efo's performance on the net for Free! and offer tickets to the tv taping for free to edhead members as well! Btw the show is taped in Columbia SC. > 3) Should EFO have an opening act? No! but *again if "homegrown" happens there will be (3) groups available for viewing your choice whether you want to view or not! > 4) If so, who? If you had to have one...."Stacy Earle" that's a big if :) > 5) Should EFO have a guest? Yes! by all means > 6) If so, who? Bela Fleck! > 7) Where should they have it? South Carolina at SCetv's studio's! Also a wonderful state of the art studio that can hold 100 folks "Nickel & Dime Studios" in Atlanta Georgia... o.k. obviously selfish answers :) but realistic ones. Success!! Here's a brief recap. I just got home a couple of hours ago and I must end the sleep deprivation experiment. (Understand, please. Beverages were poured nonstop from about 11am Friday morning until 2am Monday morning. The details were cloudy at times) And I know there's people out there on the list that were at the cruise, so Please help me with details. :) Night One: Cocktail Party At Stripes Nightclub. The first night there, EFO held an open bar cocktail party for the Edheads on board. (114 total!!!) We all put on our name badges collected out Edhead Cruise t-shirts (yes!) and met each other and the band. This took place at 6pm and lasted for an hour and a half. Very cool thing. They each took the microphone and said a little something, thanked us for coming, cracked some jokes (WHO LET THE DOGS OUT???) (listening for barking) and let us know that the entire show (that took place on Saturday at 415pm) would be entirely all-request. We wrote our top 3 requests on cocktail napkins and tallied the votes. Apparently "Gravity" got the most votes. I'm thinking there's gonna be some good older songs coming out in future shows. But more of that later. After the cocktail party was over, we took a right out of the club and hit the next open bar for a couple, then headed out to dinner. Dinner : 815PM seating. We ate and lights flashed and wine poured and waiters sang. Dinner was an interesting thing. Everyone sat in the same area and someone let the dogs out again. (listening for barking). Post dinner, the party (that I was with) moved to the Pool deck as well as various parts of the ship. (4am comes fast on a cruise ship). Fuzzy details followed. Saturday Morning : 1030 am (for me, even later for my stomach and head) Concert / show. Saturday Starlight lounge 415pm. I'm so sorry. I didn't do a play list. I did have a camera and took pictures. I'll develop them and post them on a directory until I make pages for them. Give me a couple of days for that. I know that people were taping the show (audio and Video), but I don't know who or how good it came out or anything about it. Sorry again. The band started out with a "Gilligans Island" parody about the 1st annual EFO cruise. very funny stuff. They played for a total of about 3 and a half hours of requests. Taking only a 20 minute break. Apparently some of Eddie's equipment was on borrow from the ship and they needed it back. Repo man took the drums during the break. The entire show was full of energy, laughs and chills. Joe nearly stole the show during "Three Fine Daughters...", and there was even a special singing guest (Julie's sister, Mary). Easily the best show I've seen. I think almost everyone was willing to blow off Jussying up for the Captains Dinner (Of which I didn't even see him) and hang with EFO for a while more. But the food was necessary. Fancy Schmancy Dinner: 815pm seating. The head waiter Let the Dogs Out. Light flashed and waiters sang. Believe me, it was the oddest thing I saw. We did however find out that the seating before us was disrupted by banging coming from the upper level. Guess where the dance floor was! Yep. That was us. After dinner. It was out to the deck for me and my new friends. 4am again. Lost shoes, borrowed vests (Not me though. I had all my clothes.) The rest became a blurrrrrr. Q+A / Autograph session. Sunday 1030am. Just as it says. It lasted an our and a half (or so) and gave us an opportunity to hear the band talk without holding any instruments. (thanks EFO, very cool of you all). I mentioned earlier that we all got Cruise shirts (I'm sure you'll see them at shows soon and they can be seen on the web site in the group photo http://www.efohio.com/cruise.html)), well, before the concert the day before, we took markers and signed shirts for the band. I thought that was a fun thing to do. Sunday was an extreme wind down day. (apparently there was activities for those booking early (Hint Hint: Book early, I didn't and I was sad I didn't!!!)) Here I am now. Home writing a recap, going through 94 e-mails. It felt good to be coming home, but I know I will miss the people I spent the last few days with and I WILL see them again next year. Sorry if I missed and good details. If I can remember, I'll add them. - JIM RAIMO (bald guy, got the Robbie Schaefer thing going on) ------------------------------ End of edheads-digest V3 #144 *****************************
