I bet they're having a lot of fun right now!!! Oh, and I love that so many people have introduced themselves! Everyone wrote all about how they got into EFO, and I didn't. But rather than usher in a bunch of unsubscribing, I'll just point you all in the direction of my EFO webpage... and there you can read all about it. http://www.unca.edu/~rcrichar/efopage.htm (make sure to sign the guestbook!) Sometime in the next week or so I'll have it updated to include the ziggy's and neighborhood theatre shows! Guess I'll join in the Edhead Census. Allow me to introduce myself...I'm Michael Nesmith, the most talented Monkee. (Nope, sorry, j/k: that's a quote from a song by a different band) I am Spartacus! (Nope, sorry, *slap hand*...I'll stop) Hi! I'm Berkeley. I'm an Edhead. It all started many years ago when the band still had day jobs in the working world most of us know. A good friend of mine was a co-worker of Julie's. One Tuesday he brought us all to Bad Habits Grille to see the band his co-worker sang in. Well, we ate dinner and then they played their infectious tunes. Yeah, I was starting to get hooked from the first song. When they did the Schoolhouse Rock Medley, I knew they were folks I could relate to. My suspicion was found true when they went on break. Yeah, I accidentally bumped into Eddie first. He was impressive: nice to the fans, talking just like a regular guy, happy to share with everyone who wanted to listen to his tales. Back at my table, my friend talked Julie into singing Imagine Me. During the next set they played Imagine Me. It has always been my favorite EFO song. I leaned over to my friends & said, "I'm buying that CD." They also played Doin' Time Under the Lifeguard Stand, HoJo's On Waukegan, Sahara, The Three Fine Daughters of Farmer Brown, & some covers (including Operator). Some of us are just fortunate to remember the early days. Tuesdays came & Tuesdays went. I did, too. Eventually, I had to move back to Mississippi. Then, I was the only person in MS who had ever heard of EFO, but I played their CDs & became known as THE Mississippi Fan. I think I was the only person on the mailing list from Mississippi. But, whenever anyone heard their albums the response was invariably, "Wow! Who's that you're listening to? They're cool!" Hey, Eddie From Ohio made me cool in those folks' eyes & I got them hooked on the band. Nice! Well, with the fact that I was cool & that there were so many good memories attached to them (Who was that dancing waiter?, the Joe, & listening to the CDs as my DC friends & I made fun memories), Eddie From Ohio became my favorite band. On Wednesday, I turned 33. Even now, they are still my favorite band. Even though I am now THE Montgomery Fan (previously, THE Mobile Fan -- I moved out of LA about a year ago) since I live in "Fungomery", Alabama. I'm only about 90 minutes from B'ham & 2.5 hours from Hotlanta. I have to travel to get my fixes. Despite the long dry spell (going cold turkey in MS), I never kicked the Eddie From Ohio habit...maybe that's why the bar was called Bad Habits. Thankfully, it's not a harmful addiction & I can now see shows not too far away. I can also say the band is still cool. Anyone can stop by after a show & chat with them. They'll autograph CDs & tell you crazy tales. And, hey, we can all boardtape! Thanks for listening. - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- - ------- Vital Stats for anyone who cares: 33 year old Christian Male/Chronically Single/Computer Programmer/Non-Smoker/Montgomery,AL/Edhead ________________________________________________________________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET!
