My name is in fact, Harold Thomas Watson the Third, coming soon to a ballot box near you, but since you are all ed heads, and thus my friends, you may call me Tres. I am 21 years old, and a native of Richmond, Va., the beacon of east coast music that it is. I am 21 and currently a student at Centre College in Danville, Ky. (the equivalent to the north pole as far as east coast music is concerned, the state of Kentucky that is). I first got in to EFO by word of mouth around the RIC and then seeing them open for PMB at the Carpenter Center (which happens to be the first time i saw Angie Aparo, who i will be seeing this wed. at A1A in Lexington, Ky!!!!!). With that dispensed of, first of all, let me say that, in my 3 years of long removal from the east coast music scene, whether through show reviews, supportive responses on comments made on mailing groups on which we share membership, or from just general amusement from posts, Will Foy has provided me a good link to the music scene that i love while on self-imposed exile in Kentucky. I just felt i should say that, as i shall soon be off to France for the spring and winter semesters and i wasn't sure how long i would have to make those comments. Plus i am just liquored enough to share feelings while still knowing what i am doing =) Lastly, anyone go to the show at Mayo Island with Robert Earl Keen? I know my dad had backstage passes from Robert (long story, but my dad is indirectly, or maybe directly responsible for REK getting his original deal with sugar hill records, if you wanna hear the story, e-mail me privately, and i will tell ya, but the Bud Light prevents me from doing so now). Anyways, i would love to hear a review of the whole festival if its available. To reiterate....I am Tres, 21, on self-imposed musical exile in Danville, Ky. A big Mucho Gracias to Will Foy for everything, and does anyone have a review from Mayo Island. I'm out...off to bed!! I believe I had the privilege of seeing Julie sing "My Funny Valentine" the first time she sang it during rehearsal for the musical "Babes in Arms" her sophomore year of High School. She was the star and I was a freshman in the chorus. So of course, years later when a friend said "Hey, Julie Murphy is in a band and playing at Bad Habits" I wasn't surprised at all. I wouldn't have believed that her voice could get any better, but I was wrong. I've only been to about 4 concerts over the years as I always seem to be out of the country or in Alaska when they play, but I am really looking forward to the Birchmere shows next month. Been listening to EFO for close to 8 years. I believe the first place I saw them was at The Bus Stop in Radford back in 92 or 93. I go see them every chance I get, probably at least 25 times. My favorite show was with Pat McGee at the Filene Center at Wolf Trap. All I can say about that show is WOW!!! I'm really excited about seeing EFO and PMB together again at the Canal Club here in Richmond the Saturday after Thanksgiving. As a great lover of EFO I too have converted many people to Edheads. I think I could probably count 15-20 convertees. I took my most recent convertee to the show at Trax on September 15. Kevin said they gave him goosebumps and I knew he would be hooked from then on. Also saw the show here in Ricmond at Mayo Island last Sunday. It was good but they played at 12:30 which is really early. The crowd definitely wasn't pumped that early in the day, but I had a great time. I absolutely love EFO and it's great to hear others who appreciate their work. They're just the best!! Hope to see some of you at the Canal Club show!! P.S. I saw the coolest thing at the Mayo Island show last Sunday. For those who aren't familiar, it's an outdoor venue. A family with probably 4-5 kids came in ranging from about 9-2. The oldest nine year old was singing along with Julie and the boys word for word, even on "Eddie's Concubine" I thought that was just the neatest thing I'd seen in a long time. At least he's starting out his musical life on the good foot!! _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
