I really liked 'em when i finally got to listen but like so many of my favorite bands, i figured they'd never come to colorado sooo... fast forward to the four corners folk fest two years ago. a week before that, i had to leave for school so i knew i was going to miss the show... what i did do, however, was tell all my friends that were going to check out this awesome group for me and tell me what the live show was like. everyone was souped about the band and i knew that i had to see 'em live. my chance came sometime last year at the mercury lounge when they played and one of my favorite musicians, erin mckeown, opened up so it was definitely an excellent night! : ) i'm going to try to catch them on november 10th and 11th as well as december 2nd. so if anyone's going to those gigs, feel free to email me beforehand! :) take it easy, JOrdaN http://www.geocities.com/tmbgirl.geo/ ________________________________________________________________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET! I realised that I forgot to say that I have been listening to EFO for about half my life, and I doubt that anyone else can say that. however, being 17 makes that easier. To change the subject slightly, who exactly will be going to the birchmere show? Because marie and I will be there, with a few EFO virgins too. And maybe my dad. Who knows! Anyway, I was just wondering what faces we would be able to match with names. I have never seen EFO live but will in November (yay!) at the Santa Cruz show definitely and the Berkely show if I can convince my dad that it is a good idea to see bands (especially good ones) twice in row. I picked up "Big Noise" at Towers because it was the onl EFO CD they had and I had heard wonderful recommendations from fruheads and now I love them! I've been a lurker here since this summer, I think, and can't wait til my first show! - --Kyla ===== "I have a secret I should tell- I'm going up to heaven in a split pea shell." - -Peter Mulvey __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I first saw EFO in 1992 on the campus of America's finest undergraduate institution, James Madison Univesity. I was actually leaving as they started playing, but there was a cute girl near the stage so I decided to stay and became an edhead by the end of their set. Didn't actually buy a cd until "Big Noise", but my favorite is "Actually Not". _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. OK, I think I'm the oldest one on the list whose checked in so far. I'm 52. I live in So. Pasadena, CA just four miles south of the Rose Bowl. I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and was 18 in 1966. This means that I got to experience the SF music scene first hand. Saw all the great 60s bands at that great moment in music history. Also got to see the Beatles at Candlestick Park at their last concert ever in 1966. My favorite SF band then was Jefferson Airplane, who started out doing folk rock, with heavy folk and blues roots. When I saw EFO last year they reminded me of early Airplane. The EFO medley of I Know You Rider and Turn on your Lovelight I am sure is a tribute to the Grateful Dead, who did both songs, but as far as the Deadheads tell me, never as a medley. I discovered EFO because I'm a huge fan of Susan Werner and EFO was mentioned on Susan's Believer's List so I decided to check them out, and love them. I'm looking forward to seeing them at McCabe's in November. I am a lawyer, a swing dancer, and a rock and roll bass player. ------------------------------ End of edheads-digest V3 #140 *****************************
