(I'll be hitting Wal Mart later tonight.) Feel free to e-mail outside the list. I hear that there's 114 Edheads on the cruise. Being from New England (Ct / Ma Border) I don't get to see the band too often. I have 5 or six shows under my belt including Falcon Ridge twice. I'll give my best review of the show that I can. I've seen some really great reviews on this list and I'm afraid that my review won't be up to some of the standards, but I'll give it my best shot. Tell EFO hi for me! I'm so sad that I found out that the cruise falls PERFECTLY on my fall break, but by the time I realized it was too late to book and I'm broke anyhow. But I'm going to start saving my money so that when they do it again, I can be on board!!! I can't think of a better way to spend my break than living it up on a cruise ship with EFO! Instead, though, I'll be playing guitar at home. :~) That's fun too. - -rhiannon At 02:31 PM 10/11/00 -0400, you wrote: >For those of us not able to go! booohoooohooo We want a full report! >regardless of how poorly written...I'm sure yours wont be though. enjoy the >cruise. We (my wife and I) last saw EFO about three weeks ago in Madison where they opened up for Willie Porter (great audience - too short - and they got a standing o!!) and dragged one of our best friends along (and his wife) to the gig. He had never seen them play before but was on the McLean High School soccer team with both Mike and Robbie. It was great to catch up with them after all these years. I both love and hate this idea--just wait until fair-weather EFOniphiles start clogging the ether with their unsubscribes....BUT, as a long-time-lurker, I could remain silent no longer. EFO fans are no longer limited to the Eastern Seaboard--some of us from the DC area are now far-flung, and the band has found that their van can negotiate roads outside the Beltway... So, that said, I'm John McIntyre--now living in Sacramento, CA, but a former McLean denizen (O'Connell HS). I'm 40 (I think that puts me way on the upper end of our demographic bell curve), and looking forward to seeing EFO next month again down at Freight & Salvage in Berkeley--a short drive and a world away... I run the development programs at McGeorge School of Law during the day so I can afford to play (drums) and sing in a couple of bands at night, but, though great fun, none of these has the chemistry and resilience of EFO. With greetings and good wishes to you (and with apologies to those who feel I've clogged their e-box), I remain, incontroveritbly-- - --John >>> rhiannon richard 10/11 2:05 PM >>> That's a good idea!!! I proudly sport my efo t-shirts and people ask me about them. And I tell them... Check them out! They are soooo good. And they are playing in Baldwinsville on Dec1!!! I work in higher education at a variety of learning institutions in the area. I've been onto EFO for about 2 1/2 years. A friend originally from NC hooked up another friend to EFO who hooked up me, and at the last concert in Ames, IA (which folk-rocked BTW) there were 15 of us who went together. In reference to the recent discussion about EFO's growing popularity vs. their personal connection to fans, it is interesting to note that while the fan base seems to grow exponentially (a friend brings a friend brings a friend) we seem to be keeping this within a group of kindred spirits. I have an EFO sticker in my office and only about 2 people in the past year have said "Oh, you like Eddie From Ohio too?" but those people are now my closest friends at work. EFO drew us together and the similar qualities that we enjoy in each other we also like in EFO music. Because of the intimacy of the concerts, chatting with fans afterwards, the cruise, the personal nature of the songs, and the way that we overanalyze and connect with certain lyrics, we tend to feel that we know juliemikeeddierobbie personally and so when we turn on someone new to EFO, it is like introducing old friends. That is a valuable draw to their music and part of our enjoyment of it. I don't see that element going away regardless of their popularity surge. ------------------------------ End of edheads-digest V3 #135 *****************************
