So you've been introduced to the wonderful world of selling merch! (Read: So Julie's recruited you! ;) I always enjoy selling merch, not least because EFO fans are exceedingly nice and ocassionally kind of weird. Either way, interesting things happen. I recall one show where I believe most of the attendees were trucked in from Mars. I fielded one query from an anxious older woman who was wondering whether the latest _Ohioan_ was serious, that EFO were planning a vinyl release of the next album (Fishbowl). She seemed irked--apparently she'd *just* gotten rid of her record player... Another one insisted on a copy of _Big Noise_ rather than _Portable EFO Show_ because she "didn't like live music." *blink* *blink* *shrug* Some guy bought EFO's entire catalogue at once (five albums, at the time)--and then had Julie (and maybe the others, I didn't see) sign all of them. I still wonder what she (and the others) wrote on the later ones ("To : hope you like this one, too...") And--my personal favorite--a woman stopped by the merch table and picked up a copy of _No Rules_. She looked at it, then at me, and said, "So, this is you?" Granted that the picture on _No Rules_ is blurry, but still... All that at one show. I won't even mention that one Berkeley show where everyone wanted blue shirts (Mob mentality? Collective unconscious? You decide.), leaving EFO to finish their CA tour with only a couple blue shirts left... but I guess I already did. - --nicole twn *** "There is no reason for any individual to have a computer in his home."--Ken Olson, president of DEC, 1977 Visit Nicolopolis! http://wwwcsif.cs.ucdavis.edu/~carlsonn nmcarlson@ucdavis.edu ana.ng@tmbg.org carlsonn@seclab.cs.ucdavis.edu ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 07 Aug 2000 22:06:27 -0400 From: rhiannon Subject: Re: EFO: Re: a night at the pit (long) (and just got longer!) Yeah. We had two women come up and want to buy three large shirts, and they had to be the same colour. And there was only one shirt that fit that discription, and they didn't like the colour. So finally they settled on two larges and a medium. They were very nice though. Somebody actually went to a concert and wouldn't buy portable because they don't like live music!? Weird! Has anybody else sold merch for efo (or any other band, for that matter)? Any funny stories? It is definitely an interesting thing to do, and i love it. But i still love being up front more. Still, if they ever need me to do it again (julie was already trying to recruit us for the ziggy's show), I'm their girl. - -rhiannon p.s. nicole, i think that julie actually mentioned you to me! that's one really cool thing about Julie is that she talks about all of us like we're her close friends. Don, she mentioned you too. And maybe some others! I love that. > I won't even mention that one Berkeley show where >everyone wanted blue shirts (Mob mentality? Collective unconscious?
