I got to sell merchandise for the first time ever, and had a pretty good time. There are some definite draw backs to being stuck in the back of the room, but definite pluses to getting to sell merch. Before the show we waited around for a while, and finally found sound man Bob who was extremely nice to us. Sometime during that period a hawk sized misquito bit my hand and made it swell all up (it's STILL very very swollen today). Then we got to go in and organize all the merch. EFO went on at about 10:30. I noticed that the banter wasn't as long-winded as I've seen it in the past, but I think it was because of the beach crowd. The stage is in the basement of the Pit, and mike was right when he said it felt like a highschool party ("my parents won't be home until midnight!!!" -mike). We noticed before the show, and evedently efo noticed too, that their new logo shirts look remarkably like the shirts for the Pit. Weird. Set list: set 1- Old Dom. Loitering Woman of faith angel from montgomery imagine me farmer brown very fine funeral bookends uncle john's band Dj; irish dream no. 6 driver great day cleo and tony set 2- stupid american gravity hojo's when i crossed over jordan if i had a boat north pacific Dj; 29 ways doin' time fruited plain this my town maylee concubine operator encore- train I'm amazed at how long EFO can play. The show was a late one anyhow, and I know julie was tired. But you couldn't tell it. They put on an excellent show. Afterwards we got to help pack up merch and talk to everyone. We showed them all our falcon ridge pictures, including a great one of julie's dad that i'll have to scan. we didn't get any pictures last night, unfortunately, because we were so far back. One weird thing- we were the only ones that did the "babe the rocky mountains are gradually eroding"...but about 10 people did the "joe murphy dance" during farmer brown, and several people got the "country... COOKIN'!" thing down. Then we drove the three hours home, and got back at about 5:30 this morning. It was well worth it. Hope to see some of you edheads at the winston-salem and charlotte shows!
