Subject: Stupid American

Recently discussed with several folks the novel 'A Prayer for Owen Meany', 
which appears to be a favorite with both the band and many members of this 
list.

As a result I'm reading it again, I think this is the 6th time.

Anyway - p. 453 of the paperback, are the words 'stupid Americans'.  They 
really stood out this time around!

(...'like so many stupid Americans, I pictured Canada as simply some 
northern, colder, possibly more provincial region of the United States...').
