First, I'm fully aware that a harp is a darn difficult thing to take on the road but does anybody remember him playing it live? Second, I admittedly don't have a great ear for discerning musical instruments but, which songs are you guys aware of that he *does* play the harp on? thanks all! - -Jess PS-In case you were wondering ... He had it last time I saw them at Passim on Cambridge. Instead of Eddie's drum solo, Mike did "In A Gadda-Da-Vida" on the harp. It lasted 23 minutes and was pretty damn amazing. At the end of the night, Julie was almost crushed as the four of them struggled to get the harp back in the trailer. *snicker* Jim - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jess." Mike doesn't play an actual harp (I'd like to see him try), but a "mouth harp" also known as a harmonica. Maybe Dee Carstensen will show up some night with her harp out in the car and sit in on a few songs. ;-) Having just now gotten around to thoroughly reading the Bio page, may I say I knew there was a reason I like this band. Two out of 4 members list my all-time favorite book as theirs, too. If you've never read 'A Prayer for Owen Meany' by all means do. One of my favorite passages from the book (Owen's dialog is always in all caps): Owen hated Palm Sunday: the treachery of Judas, the cowardice of Peter, the weakness of Pilate. "IT'S BAD ENOUGH THAT THEY CRUCIFIED HIM," Owen said, "BUT THEY MADE FUN OF HIM, TOO!"...I find that Holy Week is draining; no matter how many times I have lived through his crucifixion, my anxiety about his resurrection is undiminished - I am terrified that, this year, it won't happen; that, that year, it didn't. Anyone can be sentimental about the Nativity; any fool can feel like a Christian at Christmas. But Easter is the main event; if you don't believe in the resurrection, you're not a believer. "IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE IN EASTER," Owen Meany said, "DON'T KID YOURSELF - DON'T CALL YOURSELF A CHRISTIAN". Many thanks to all of you who have been in touch - this is a great group, Suzie Tee ------------------------------ End of edheads-digest V3 #65 ****************************
