I have heard about her for awhile, but had never heard her music. She has a really strong voice. Speaking of strong voices... I know I'm just imaging this, but I think Julie's voice is stronger since Liam was born. :-) EFO opened with "Great Day." The whole band was "on" with Mike droning on and on and on about those Washington Redskins (I almost yelled "Go Bears!" and Robbie offering $15 tickets to see Julie breast-feed during the break. The highlights for me were the new songs, although I had heard them when I saw Mike & Robbie open for The Kennedys 10 days ago. Mike's "Monotony" is hilarious and it was good to see that Robbie had been able to give up his lyric sheet for that song. :-) "Abraham" and "Number 6 Driver" are both beautiful songs. The final encore was a treat. "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes" with Karen and Peter. What a wonderful evening. Enough to tide me over until June 9 when the band will be here in Richmond! don I heard the news today, nothing's going right But you told me life is everything, and this is part of life. -- "Pick You Up", The Kennedys Don Semmens; Richmond VA; donsem@concentric.net NO SHELL ACCESS SUCKS!!! I went to the show on the fourteenth- got to the Birchmere at 4:30 and so was able to wrangle those "Stare at Julie Murphey's shoes" seats that I've always wanted to have.. They turned into "Stare at Karen Savoca's shoes" seats when EFO had an opening act! That was exciting, to my recollection they never have before. I enjoyed her performance very much- lol, although some of the noises she made confused me a little. I loved the song Conversation. I plan to buy the CD eventually. And her guitarist cracked me up just by standing there.. And I agree about Julie- I thought she was SENSATIONAL! And it's nice to see her off that stool and moving again.. Although I do miss those little built in bathroom breaks we had when she was pregnant. I'm going to have to cut back on all the sodas I drink now, but it's worth it to hear Eddie's Concubine again. Man, I love that song.. The new material was ALL great. Monotony was great! Although I do sort of find myself missing those really emotional songs from the first CD's- the song that got me hooked on EFO was "Undone" from the CD Big Noise. Why, I can't say.. it just speaks to me. One question for everyone who went on the 15- how did they work the raffle? They said they were going to do it differently that night.. That was exciting, to my recollection they never have before. The first time I saw EFO at The Birchmere there was an opening act. Sept/Oct 1998 Willy Porter opened for them. He also came on for an incredible encore of "I Know You Rider" jamming with Robbie on guitar. >One question for everyone who went on the 15- how did they work the raffle? >They said they were going to do it differently that night.. They did change the rules on Saturday. The "golden ticket" was taped under the table. Not sure how it was given away on Friday. don I heard the news today, nothing's going right But you told me life is everything, and this is part of life. -- "Pick You Up", The Kennedys Don Semmens; Richmond VA; donsem@concentric.net NO SHELL ACCESS SUCKS!!!
