Just wanted to add to my list of the ten best of the '90s (yes I know that officially puts me over but please be forgiving :> ) - -Cheryl Wheeler, Mrs. Pinocci's Guitar You know when I first got this CD, I wasn't all that crazy about it ... But there are some fabulous songs and "Does the Future Look Black" is great to crank up when your doing 85/95 down the freeway. (Refer to my post about my driving record and the, as of this weekend, fourteen accidents. That would be one more than the last time I mentioned this and all I'll say is that the fence had no business being there, on the side of the road. What was it thinking? ) Also, the songs about the end of relationships are poignant but not cloying. And she has the most amazing voice. I would definitely recommend picking up this CD. - -The Neilds, Play I don't know how I could have forgotten this CD. The extended double entendre of the title is great and well done. - -Spirit of the West, Labor Day I just got this CD and it's been doing double time on my player. Great harmonies and lyrics. Political is an incredibly thought provoking song. Besides, we should all support Canadian folk music. Cheers ! - -Jess ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 13 Dec 1999 16:50:39 -0500 From: "Jim Merullo" Subject: Non EFO: Bela Fleck CDs? Hello Edheads, Ok, I know a lot of you EdHeads also like Bela Fleck. I have heard a bit, but currently do not own any of their music. I think I'll be buying a CD for my wife for Christmas (sort of for both of us though...) and I'm wondering which one to get. Now, I guess the hardcore fan would suggest the BEST Bela Album from the point of view of a Bela Fleck fan. But we're looking for one that would be the best all around CD. Kind of a "Bela Fleck 101". Would "Live Art" be a good first CD, or would that be more for someone who is already an established fan? Based on our tastes, I *know* we'll like the music. Thanks! Live Art's a good choice, but for the newbie, Bela & co, have released a "Best of" album that just came out a few weeks ago... it's got selections from almost all their releases, and a live cut or two for good measure, i think. I'm sure the usual suspects like amazon and cdnow have it available for reasonable prices online. for the hard core fan that doesn't quite have them all, get Tabula Rasa, which is a multi-ethnic combination of really excellent live recorded music, using interesting mic'ing techniques, and playing "in the round". it's a wonderful addition to the hard-core fleck fan's collection. namaste, will - -- "To strive, to seek, to find; and not to yield" - Tennyson Will Foy - willfoy@pobox.com Davidson '96-Phi Gamma Delta __ will.home -> http://birksncap.csoft.net Go{Heels,Wildcats,Braves} / \ GibbDrollVerticalHorizonEverythingAgentsOfGoodRootsEdwinMcCainBand |e:| TimReynoldsMMWBelaFleckDaveMatthewsTrainThanksToGravityBluesTraveler\__/ SamplesPatMcGeeBandGusterJumpLittleChildrenRushTR3NilLaraAngieAparo ------------------------------ End of edheads-digest V2 #189 *****************************
