Both bands have songs entitled Sahara and both have songs about the time around the 4th of July being used as a metaphor for liberation. (In Fruvous, for those of you who don't know the song, it's independence from a relationship). I'm talking about Independence Day and Fifth of July. I don't think there's anything in it (like a vast conspiracy on the part of EFO and Fruvous to inundate our minds with these topics) but it seemed interesting. - -Jess Who is sitting in the cubicle and is daydreaming about rain, fog and hostile hostels (hopefully not) in Seattle. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 17 Nov 1999 18:39:33 -0500 From: Ofer Inbar Subject: Eddie's Concubine reggae style Nicole Carlson wrote: > and there was this great moment after Eddie's Concubine when they > decided to see what it would sound like reggae-style. It does seem like a logical leap to make, considering that Eddie's Concubine is already a ska song, except without the horns and with much more full lyrics. Ska was the precursor to reggae, which was born out of a desire to have a "less chaotic" form of ska, initially. But Eddie's Concubine is already on a pretty regular beat. I guess you could add a dose of rasta... :) -- Cos (Ofer Inbar) -- cos@polyamory.org http://www.leftbank.com/CosWeb/ -- WBRS (100.1 FM) -- info@wbrs.org http://www.wbrs.org/ "Now don't try to tell me that pot leads to crack / your road from Vietnam went straight to Iraq / love love love / do people still believe in that?" -- Zuba, "Believe in That" ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 17 Nov 1999 20:45:29 -0800 From: Jeff Angwin Subject: Re: Eddie's Concubine reggae style This is a multi-part message in MIME format. - --------------F99BDA2BA650B9E1BDD43705 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Ofer Inbar wrote: > Nicole Carlson wrote: > > and there was this great moment after Eddie's Concubine when they > > decided to see what it would sound like reggae-style. We who recorded the event for posterity just might have to post the soundbite for all to enjoy... It was a VERY funny bit, I just wish that they had continued it through. It was all too short. > > > It does seem like a logical leap to make, considering that Eddie's > Concubine is already a ska song, except without the horns and with > much more full lyrics.
