I think Trax is a great place for concerts although someone in our C'vlle office said there are always fights with baseball bats there. Haven't seen any of that, but folkies are usually pretty laid back. I stood in front of Mike this time and it was really interesting hearing a little more of his bass. The band sounded great as usual and played a wide variety of songs. Many off of LOTF, but also some I haven't heard before (ok, I've only been a fan a little over a year). Hojo's On Waukegan and Rolling Pin plus a Shawn Colvin cover and the Dead's Scarlet Begonias. They also sang my current favorite, Julie's "Great Day." Maybe they should open AND close the show with that. :-) Oh, BTW, the Eddie started the show on his drum before the rest of the band came out. Very cool. I've seen EFO 3 times in less than 3 months (twice at Trax and once at Alley Katz) and each show was very different which is pretty amazing. Some bands play the same basic set list over many months which isn't a problem unless your an obsessed fan like me. :-) 2 pieces of news: 1). Julie's song "All I Ask" is on "Virginia Souvenirs of the '90s", a CD benefiting the Turning Point Shelter for Abused Women and Children located in Roanoke. It's only $10 and well worth it. The CD also features Terri Allard, Debi Smith, Julie Ann Sgroi and many others. 2). Mike thanked the audience for respecting the "No Smoking" signs because "one of the band members is with child." I'll let all of you put 2 and 2 together to figure it out, but we should start a "name the baby" contest. I suggest Jerm. don (wondering if EFO is Y2K compliant) Said one cloud to the next, "How nice that we can rain. On the ground it seems they let water wash away their pain." -- "The Cloud Song", Jess Klein Don Semmens; Richmond VA; donsem@concentric.net NO SHELL ACCESS SUCKS!!!
