(I was looking for Arrogant Worms (yes, I know, fat chance; just humour me here) but ran into the same problem I always have when I'm looking for Canadian music--I get referred to the World Music section, which invariably does not have anything from Canada, and then to the British Isles section, which is even sillier. But I digress.) So after I'd given up hope, I nosed around a bit in search of anything good and encountered, much to my surprise (shock, actually,) in the Rock/Pop section... an empty plastic divider, neatly and clearly labelled... EDDIE FROM IDAHO Fortunately I was able to control my laughing fit long enough to make a semi-coherent statement to the cashier. Just thought I'd share. :) - --nicole "but seriously, maybe they finally got a buyer with a clue, because six months ago they didn't even have Fruvous and today they had everything except Bargainville" wonder nerd *** "There's a right turn somewhere that can take you to the wrong place."--Peter Mulvey Visit Nicolopolis! http://wwwcsif.cs.ucdavis.edu/~carlsonn nmcarlson@ucdavis.edu ana.ng@tmbg.org ncarlson@mail.arc.nasa.gov ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 27 Feb 1999 20:05:40 -0500 (EST) From: jreiser@ecoutez.com (Jason A. Try http://www.connact.com/~eaw/minidisc/part_hacking.html I know this can be done with the Sony MDS-JE520 which I have, so if all else fails, yell. I can try to help out. http://members.aol.com/BorusSylt/303.htm has information on how to recover the TOC on a Sony MDS-303. http://www.connact.com/~eaw/minidisc/cloning_procedure.html has information on doing this on the Sony MDS-JE520. As the 520 is a current model that you'll probably see in several stores, you might be able to recover the recording on a display model somewhere. Just bring along an extra MD with a single track 74:59 long and follow the instructions. It might be wise to make a "recover" MD that's just a single long track of worthless data just to use for this purpose. Good luck! - - Jason ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 27 Feb 1999 17:52:24 -0800 From: David Burckhardt Subject: Mini Disk Alas, I thought the world had ended and I went ahead and used that disk to record the Santa Monica Show at McCabe's. I am really kicking myself for it now. HOWEVER! the McCabe's show was AWESOME, and I am glad to have a recording of it. Now I just have to get around to transfering it to a more universaly useful format. >can be done with the Sony MDS-JE520 I am using a Sharp MD-MS702, just incase you were currious. Sadly none of the currently available portable MD recorders (including your MS702) have a digital output. Most of the full-sized home units do though. I can transfer the MD to CDR if you want. If the track IDs for are already in place that will make it a lot easier. Alternatively, write down the time in MM:SS where each track ID should be and I can place them easily enough. - - Jason Jason Reiser 245 East 54th Street, #14S New York, NY 10022 ------------------------------ End of edheads-digest V2 #43 ****************************
