Nicole- Sounds like you might have some pull with the band since you are an honorary swag peddler. I thought the Berkeley show was great. I brought a friend who was initially jazzed about the band because she is from Toledo. The realization that the Ohio connection wasn't there was overcome by her instant fondness of the music. Anyway, as someone who was at all six shows, any hope they might add another venue for their next swing through California, particularly Northern California? I was introduced to EFO by word of mouth and accidentally saw them at the Bad Habits. Two points: first, I think many of my friends on the west side of the Bay and north of Santa Cruz would love to see a show. EFO is an experience worth sharing. Second, maybe the band could look into a venue where the crowd could get loose (dance a little) as an option. I understand the loyalty to the Freight and Salvage but it is a listening room. I hope they make it back to the Left Coast sometime before October. Sorry to bore all you VA people. From my week long visit there and all the exiles I've met at shows, it seems like a decent, beautiful place. How do you explain Jerry Falwell? I was introduced to EFO by word of mouth Not like I have any pull with the band, m'friend; I'm just some random CA edhead, and how I got to be honorary swag person boils down to the band doing me a favor, not vice versa. (I was underage at a 21+ show last summer, and they snuck me in through the back by claiming I was a merch person.) :) It really isn't my place to be suggesting different venues, and I'm not sure what I'd suggest anyway. Think about it--there really aren't that many venues in the South Bay. I mean, there's what, Villa Montalvo and Shoreline Amphitheater, really, and the former is probably too small (although Great Big Sea is playing there in April, so I dunno; maybe it's bigger than I remember) (and there's no dancing space, at least not at the Garden Theater) (but the eats are yummy (but expensive)) (I'll be quiet now) and the latter is orders of magnitude too big. There was dancing space set aside at Mammoth Lakes... and Davis had some room over by the door that became unofficial dance space... :) Honestly, I really don't know what to say or do here. I don't own a magic wand. > EFO is an experience worth sharing. Second, maybe the band Amen!! But Santa Cruz is only 1/2 hour from San Jose, and Berkeley is only 1 hour. It's really not that far (especially in a car...) (whoops, wrong fan community). > I hope they make it back to the Left Coast sometime before October. Yah, me too, but we get an album to tide us over until then. And, as Eric pointed out, it sounds like a winner! All the ones I've heard so far kick bootie. All you people going to the CD release party have my undying envy. :) > Sorry to bore all you VA people. "We'd like to apologize for Jerry Falwell, and we've come here as a new coalition! Heterosexuals For Tinky Winky!" (heavily paraphrased) Mike, at the Davis show. - --nicole the "And I only went to 3 shows, not 6" wonder nerd *** "There's a right turn somewhere that can take you to the wrong place."--Peter Mulvey Visit Nicolopolis! http://wwwcsif.cs.ucdavis.edu/~carlsonn nmcarlson@ucdavis.edu ana.ng@tmbg.org ncarlson@mail.arc.nasa.gov ------------------------------ End of edheads-digest V2 #41 ****************************
