My cousin goes to V Tech, I almost went to JMU and if we're going to talk about bizarre mascots I think we Californians have it up on your turkeys. Mine happens to be an Anteater. It goes "ZOT!". Its claim to fame is that it has a large phallic shaped nose and a long tongue. Shall we even mention the Fighting Banana Slugs? (Potassium). And in High School I was a proud Gremlin - a thirteen foot male anorexic elf. With no nose. By that token, Jessica should have rated the Mammoth Lakes show #1, given the "Jessica, get a life" comment... I'm making little progress with the verses and none with the chorus. I had it stuck in my head all day yesterday (catchy song, isn't it? I love the guitar part.) and would kinda like to know the words in case it invades my brain again. My own review: I attended three shows (Berkeley, Davis, and Mammoth Lakes) and had a blast. Highlights included the California debut of "Maylee, I Had A Dream", which I'd really been looking forward to hearing live, some unusual live stuff (got to hear "Santa Margherita"! Whoo! And "North Pacific Rain" was dedicated to me in Davis... awww...), and some actual press coverage this time (an interview with Julie in the Sacramento Bee). Jessica and I helped sell merchandise, so if you bought something at a CA show, you might have bought it from us. I know I haven't posted here for a long time, life's been kind of crazy and I've only had time to skim. I've finally caught up and there are a few things I'd like to say in an official capacity as list administrator, policywise, as well as a few bits of useful-to-know technical info about this list. I hope everyone will read this note... - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- First, although this list is indeed meant for discussion and information about Eddie From Ohio, one of the lists' purposes is also as a forum for EFO fans to meet each other and form a community. Occasional notes about tangential topics are welcome as long as they don't take over the list and drown out EFO discussion. I doubt that will happen. And although we do have a lot of people on the list, the traffic has been pretty low, so that leaves more leeway for tangents If you're unhappy with a thread on the list, the best response currently is to simply ignore it, and post about something else. If list traffic does get really high, I may step in and make a different statement, but for the time being there doesn't seem to be a problem so we don't need to fix anything. - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Now some reminders about how the list works. The most important thing to remember is to save a copy of the list info file that you got by email when you first subscribed to edheads. This info file explains how to unsubscribe, among other things. If you've lost your copy of the info file, you can get a new one by sending email with the word "info" as the body of the message, to edheads-request@efohio.com You can post to the list only if you are subscribed to it. This means that if you have multiple email accounts, and you subscribed from one of them, you need to post from that one. If you try to post from a different account, the list software won't recognize your address and won't let your message through. The reason we're set up this way is to protect against spam. Since spam generally won't have a From: address that matches someone subscribed to edheads, spam messages sent to the list address will not go out to the list. There are a few other reasons why a message you send to edheads might not get through. If you've got the info file saved (and you should!) you might have noticed these two paragraphs: o This is a TEXT based list. File attachments, binary data, HTML, and other non-text postings will not get through. Sometimes, you may be sending non-text email without realizing this. Microsoft email products, for example, are notorious for this. If your posts result in bounce messages that complain about "taboo header", etc., check your mailer configuration or ask your technical support for help. o Very large messages will also not get through. This is to protect us, not to limit us. If messages that look reasonable are longer than the size limit, I will change the size limit to accomodate them. I've just changed the size limitation to 20,000 characters, which should accomodate some show reviews & set lists that weren't getting through before. Sorry about that. The most common reason for people's posts not getting through continues to be HTML in the email. If you send a message to the edheads list address, and the message does get through to the list, you WILL get a copy of that message back in your inbox. This usually happens within a few hours. If you do not get a copy of the message sent to back you, that means the message did NOT get distributed to the mailing list. Keep that in mind. - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Finally, I sometimes go away on vacation, or get sick, or get swamped with work... For whatever reason, I may not always be following the list very closely. So if there's something wrong with the list, don't assume I know about it. Send me email and let me know. I keep separate mailboxes in different places, so even if I'm not keeping up with the list, I will see mail you send to cos@efohio.com promptly. If you have any more questions about the edheads mailing list, and they're not answered in the info file, feel free to write me email. But if you ask something that is answered in the info file, I'll just tell you to look there :) -- Cos (Ofer Inbar) -- cos@leftbank.com cos@polyamory.org -- WBRS Waltham 100.1 FM -- info@wbrs.org http://www.wbrs.org/ "Drat, I need to do a back-of-the-envelope calculation, and I don't have an envelope.
