It is such an outstanding package, that it deserves a quick public note, along with a huge pat on the back to Geoff for putting it together. The band played one of the finest shows I've heard on this particular evening, breaking out some remarkable tunes. Highlights include: birthday wishes to Eddie, followed by a great solo by the birthday boy Julie blowing Robbie's punchline, when he wishes a drunken concert goer a happy 19th b-day and a earth-shattering Mimosa's in Missouri, along with the answer to "What's up w/ the title on the instrumental number?" Those who didn't get a copy of this bootleg need to do so. It's an outstanding, if not "must have" for one's EFO collection. Geoff pulled together a fine package of three CDs, along with CD cover art, and inserts. Couldn't be happier with the bootleg -- perhaps the best $7 I've spent this year. Did anyone else out there happen to get a copy of the second set - specifically "3 fine daughters" which was dedicated in a roundabout way to my daughter, the then unborn Brett Marley Schulz, who is about to celebrate her one month birthday. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let me know if anyone has it. It would be soooooo cool for her to have later on down the road. Hey Edheads! I remember the first time I saw EFO at some bar (Memphis, Icons...whatever it's name was that week...) in Shockoe Bottom in Richmond back in '92. I didn't hear the door guy right and thought for years that the Julie was Edy, and the band was Edy from Ohio...until I started seeing them regularly in Richmond over the last couple of years. And I always try to get as many of my 30-something friends to go hear em. Actually one of my friends played in a band with Eddie at JMU...What does "itchy scratchy" mean?? Also, SGL or SGGL albums are worth a listen...you see EFO member names in the album notes. Anyway, if you miss the BHG show tonight, then (if I'm correctly informed) slide on down to Richmond and catch EFO at the Flood Zone in Shockoe Bottom Thurs (17th) night. Say "hi"; I'll be the fat, old, bald guy with a buzz. See ya there, Big Al PS Is it just me or is Michael Clem on the new $20 bill??? ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 15 Dec 1998 12:26:31 -0800 From: Nicole the Wonder Nerd Subject: EFO: Newbie...be nice?! Hi Robbie, welcome to the list! :) Now that you are firmly entrenched in EFO-fandom (there IS no escaping ;), you may wish to purchase the albums. They're well worth getting, I assure you. If you can't find them in TO (I can't find them where I live (CA), either, so don't feel left out), you can mail order them from the band's website, amazon.com, or Folkweb. Seriously, we all love our bootlegs here, and we're lucky that EFO is so pro-taping, but they don't see a penny (US *OR* Canadian) from them, and they have rent to pay like anyone else. Have fun in Toronto... lucky you, for whom Moxy Fruvous is a local band... - --nicole twn *** "Today you'll be learning how to model your love lives as a series of second-order ordinary differential equations."--former math professor Visit Nicolopolis! http://wwwcsif.cs.ucdavis.edu/~carlsonn ICQ #11984736 Public PGP key at http://wwwcsif.cs.ucdavis.edu/~carlsonn/key.html ncarlson@mail.arc.nasa.gov nmcarlson@ucdavis.edu ana.ng@tmbg.org ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 15 Dec 1998 15:50:31 -0500 From: "Troy A.
