I'll share the mildly amusing story, since the surreal one takes a while. My cousin Patsy and her boyfriend came through Davis on their way to Lake Tahoe (popular weekending spot for Northern Californians) and stopped at my house for dinner. Patsy goes to UC Santa Cruz, so over dinner (actually it was dessert at that point) I mentioned the EFO/Fighting Banana Slugs story. "Which band was this?" she asked politely. On an almost complete tangent- A friend of my has a Mephiskapheles shirt that has date/concert listing stuff on the back. Next to every date the location is listed as "Hell", except for the one next to October 31st which is... (you guessed it) "Ohio." - -Heather, briefly de-lurking from Oberlin, Ohio and seeing the resemblance more and more every day... _________________________________________________________ DO YOU YAHOO!? I have enjoyed watching the banter and quizzes for the past month here. I don't want to take too much of your time, so I shall make it short. First-The song which has recently been dubbed "Robbie's Song" at Bad Habits and perhaps beyond, I am interested in obtaining guitar music or tablature of. Is there anyone who would know how to get a copy of the Lyle Lovett song "If I had a Boat," preferably in tablature format? Second-Though it is time for scary tales of EFO, I would like to share a pleasurable/romantic story of EFO, with hopes of hearing some others in a similar fashion. One day in February of this year, my girlfriend and I were hiking on the AT(Appalachian Trail) looking out for Falling Rock so we could take him back to his tribe. As we were hiking I couldn't get over the strength of my emotions. I had a revelation that I wanted to hike the worlds trails and discover the world's paths with this beautiful and lovely lady for the rest of my life. So, without having a plan in mind, we came to the peak of a mountain in West Virginia and I popped the question. The rest of the day was filled with surreal events and elation. We had a dinner date and a concert to go to with some close friends, so we hurried home and got ready for the coming night, after calling parents and such. While at dinner, we told our friends, who were just ecstatic. The concert which we went to was EFO at the Barns. To our surprise, they were recording for a live album. Now, every time I hear that CD set I am transported to that infamous day which I professed my love for my soon to be wife by asking for her hand in marriage. The only embarrassing note is that when I ordered the CD from Julie Murphy, I called her Jen. (quite innocently, as I have two friends by the name of Jen Murphy). I am mortified by my fumble and reminded of this everytime Julie comes to the table at Bad Habits to talk with my friend Steph(who we shared that night with). Thanks for the opp to speak and please tell me if you know of any way to get the music. TIM ------------------------------ End of edheads-digest V1 #85 ****************************
