I was also at the first show (in fact, I ran sound for Mark Erelli's opening set), and it does sound like both shows were very similar. Yes, the set list was extremely similar. I knew they were planning to make some changes to accomodate Vika & Colleen's requests, but the only specific one I knew was that they were gonna substitute 30 Second Love Affair for Sahara. We didn't get Lifeguard Stand in the first show, so I wonder what they knocked out for that one. We did get Maylee, I Had a Dream, and that was the first time I'd heard it. At the 7:00 show at one point they asked how many people were new EFO fans, and got a fair number of claps, so they started asking how many people had first gotten exposed to EFO by various means. The largest number of claps came when they asked who'd seen them first at the Boston Folk Festival. I guess you were one of those :) It's interesting to see the steady progress they've made with the Passim shows this year. The first one was back in January, when they had a show at WBRS in the afternoon and one at Passim that evening. The Passim show sold out in advance, so a second show was added at the last minute, and they ended up doing three shows that day (one at WBRS, two at Passim). The second Passim set got a fair number of people, but did not sell out. They came back to Passim on June 13th, and this time they booked two shows to begin with. The first one sold out in advance, the second didn't but then sold out at the show. This time, they booked two shows and for the first time, both sold out before the day of the show. Maybe next time they can get away with two consecutive nights of two shows each :) I was actually working the merch table at the Newbury Street Stage at the Boston Folk Festival, and it was *busy*. (If you bought EFO stuff there, you might've bought it from me :) They're not up to their usual weather standards, though. They brought Boston a snowstorm, then they brought us torrential rains and a flood. This time, all they brought us was an altered Jet Stream that kept the dreary drizzly weather here for an extra three days. -- Cos (Ofer Inbar) -- cos@polyamory.org cos@cs.brandeis.edu -- Producer, Free Live Music -- booking@wbrs.org http://www.wbrs.org/ "That's the sig of the night! -- Colleen Campbell ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 14 Oct 1998 08:29:17 -0700 From: Susan Peete Subject: Edhead:THERE'S A LIGHT BEYOND THESE WOODS MARY MARGARET Anyone who appreciates the fine works of singer-songwriter Nanci Griffith, knows this song. And now Mary Margaret needs our help to keep the light shining for her. Margaret "Maggie" Graham Heenie is a childhood and longtime friend of Nanci's and is THE "Mary Margaret" in Nanci's signature tune "THERE'S A LIGHT BEYOND THESE WOODS MARY MARGARET". Maggie has co-written two songs with Nanci, as well. Maggie has an illness, "Histiocytosis-x", that is very rare and has attacked her lungs. She is now desperately in need of a lung transplant. A group of volunteers has formed, via the Internet, to raise funds to help offset Maggie's uninsured transplant expenses. One of several ways we are "Lighting The Way" for Maggie is through a new website: MUSIC BY CANDLELIGHT http://www.cruzio.com/~billpeet/MusicByCandlelight ALL the proceeds from this CD DONATION AND SALE site goes to Maggie's Transplant fund except shipping cost. Please check out the site for more info. We also appreciate hearing your thoughts and ideas. Thank you kindly Susan Peete suepeete@cruzio.com CandleList Volunteer Organizer of Music By Candlelight http://www.cruzio.com/~billpeet/MusicByCandlelight P.S. another way to get there is through the CandleList Website http://www.candlelist.org and click on "Music store" UPDATE: Mary Margaret gets THE call. Mary Margaret (Maggie Heenie) was flown to San Diego last night (10/13/98) for a lung transplant. Please everyone say a few prayers and light a candle for her. Report from her husband Fred Heenie: Surgery was a success! The new lung is reported to be a very good one and working well. Maggie tolerated the procedure well and the Doctor may be able to remove the vent later today. Kevin, Thanks for dropping off your payment last night. Thanks for the great tip. I counted then up so far, and tips total over $50 now, and a lot of people haven't paid yet. I didn't think there were any irresponsible edheads! I guess there are. Flaming starts next week! ; ) I'm glad you and your co- workers are enjoying the show. I wish "The Old Dominion" wasn't cut so you could play it on the radio. Oh well. Good crowd compared to lately. Good number pretty into it. Highlights included Julie's sister joining them on stage for the Indigo Girls' "Closer To Fine" and a Mean version of Blues Traveler's "But Anyway". I'm really liking the new one "Maylie, I Had a Dream". Its taken a couple of listens, but I really like it. Julie did a funny Carol Channing impression during the second verse of Blue Jeans. Moments like that are what I'll really miss about the BH shows. - ---------- >From: Nicole the Wonder Nerd >To: edheads@efohio.com >Subject: Edhead: Minnesota 1945 lyrics >Date: Wed, Oct 14, 1998, 3:41 PM > >Hi everyone > >I can't figure out one of the lines in MN '45.
