We played three songs from the Portable efo Show. He'd never heard of EFO before, and he asked me "Eddie, or Ed?". Twice. It seemed like a strange question. Then, after the show was over, he headed into the rock section, and pulled out some vinyl. It's an album by a group called "fIREHOSE", and their guitarist, lead singer, and co-producer is a guy listed only as "ed fROMOHIO". He also wrote three of the songs on the album. The album is called "if'n" (with the quotes as part of the name :). IT's on SST records, 1987, and the band appears to be from San Pedro, California. There are pictures of the three band members, unlabelled so I can't tell for sure which one is ed fROMOHIO, but the guy playing guitar doesn't really look like our Eddie. I heard they were gonna do it before the game at the tailgate, and it psyched me up even more than I already was (which is alot).....several folks in my section commented on how good it was. We are undefeated when EFO do the anthem, last night winning 2-1 in our first '98 playoff game. Whomever's idea it is to have them there - THANK YOU !!!!!! Maybe they could sing it at the Rose Bowl on October 25 when DC United wins their 3rd MLS title ?!?!?! Isn't that how they got their name? On the official page, in the "bios" section, there's something about a college girlfriend of Eddie's nicknaming him "Eddie from Ohio" after the guy from fIREHOSE. Naturally, this story assumes that EFO are not prone to Fruvous-like flights of fancy concerning the origin of their name. - --nicole who just discovered that this year's UC Davis Presents lineup includes Mark O'Connor, Natalie MacMaster, Anonymous 4, AND the Reduced Shakespeare Company! *** "Here, I'm going to try it!
