At least, that's what it was here in the midwest. I actually liked it... I hope that doesn't make me a geek, but what can ya do? The choreography was hilarious. Willy Porter, an amazing musician, opened the show and got the crowd fired up. He wrote a song on stage, after taking ideas from the audience! EFO was fired up from the minute they walked on stage. 105 minutes later, they were thanking the audience for an evening that was, "way up there" as Robbie said. Willy sneaked up on stage to jam with them for the next 10 minutes. After a standing ovation, they did three encores. Willy joined them for two of them, I think, making stuff up as he went along on one of them. He was incredible, and Robbie seemed to be loving having him on stage. The final encore was Julie kicking butt on "Oh My Brother." At the end of the song, the emotion in the room was so intense that no one moved or spoke. Finally, Julie sort of nodded her head and shook us out of the daze. Amazing. They all stuck around afterwards and signed t-shirts and CDs. I commend them on one of the best shows I've seen at The Birchmere. Can't wait to see them again. Selections from the evening: a few old songs I didn't know, a few new ones I loved, Gravity, The Train Song, Imagine, Three Fine Daughters, Bookends, Payday in the Village, Oh My Brother, The Old Dominion, This My Town.
