Hey everybody, Ok, it's like this. Starting Sunday I'm beginning my 3 month stay in the USA. For the first two months I'm gonna be working but will have weekends free. I'll be located around 45 minutes outside of NYC and am planning on spending most of my time discovering the town and seeing the sights. i am however afraid that such a large thing can get pretty confusing and overwhelming... so I was wondering if there are any of you here who are from the City and would be willing to show this lost angel a way through the maze of avenues and streets and subways to the whats most worth seeing and/or experiencing. Of course ANY information on where to spend a night on weekends that is safe and affordable for someone who is on a shoe-string budget (if anybody could offer a corner on the balcony or backyard big enough for 6'4'' and his sleeping bag would of course be worshiped). Amy (i'm not even sure if you're on this list) would I be terribly rude if I said I'm counting on you to show me to the hippest and coolest gigs in town (possibly one of your own as well). Plus of course if anyone has any thoughts, ideas or whatever you could offer a person who is coming to New York for the first time and is gonna get over-excited and scared at the same time, please send them my way. :) The second issue... Mike, perhaps, of people here, you had the most experience in this ... Bearsville! Now, I have been envious for so long of everybody who got to go to the Jewelstock reunion, don't get me started on the real thing... now finally it has come a time that I'm at least in the relative vicinity of the place (Bear Mountain - near Sloatsburg which is on I87 that I think, after a short resaerch, does lead towards Bearsville) so I can even consider joining you all. BUT... since I'm gonna be travelling half a world away... I can not possibly bring everything that I would need for such a meeting. So my question is... What is the absolute minimum I would need to get and survive there?... cause I mean... i won't have a tent, I won't of course have a ride... I won't have any camping equipement save the sleeping bag... but I have plenty of determination, good will and sense of humor... I might be able to get my hands on a cantaloup though? :) Ok, that's it for starters... I wonder what happens now... - -- Have fun and stay beautiful Dr. RomeAntic, an angel with the worst stroke of luck and a flash of revelation "I want to be faithful But as far as I can tell, I'm not doing so well...thus far But maybe tomorrow you'll wake up to find out If I'm not good enough for now, I'm good enough to wait For you" 8stops7 ------------------------------ End of eda-thoughts-digest V6 #18 *********************************
