All the dead darlings dropping like flies. Kissing the monsters and crawling under the bed, making love on eggshells. For all the bells and whistles of a starfish, they can only regenerate what has been lost. But if I were to open my mouth and loose the ocean with inky matter and uneven, ionic black, would they crawl back to the mad, frenzied kelp? {Please, please, please, let me know what you think. Those are the titles of Pearl Jam songs. And those were played last night on they're concert right here in Slovenia. I there was at least one more that I can't remember and of course it didn't happen in that order. It was a mindblowing concert. It all started with Washington DC's own Dismemberment Plan that played a very diverse set. Started off with two great songs and then went into some strange numbers including Limp-bizkitesque anthem Dismemberment Plan Gets Rich. But then last two songs were to my likings again. Especially the one before last that is absolute favorite... it's a simple wonderful and brilliant song called Time Bomb. They did an extended version and it rocked all the way. Great lyrics and flowing melody that was not simple, just blew me away! I was right there in the third line of course (no seats DUH... standing line!). Then for half an hour while waiting for PJ to come out, I was trying to survive the pushing and shoving. They finally came out... crowd went wild... I was losing air... but stood my ground. They started things off brilliantly with Corduroy and then went on with a few from last two albums. I don't know the order the songs were played and it's not really important. Ten-fifteen minutes into the concert I was on the virge of fainting... so I decided to give up and move 20 feet back... where I soon realised was a second pit. So I had to move back a little more. I finally got some air and continued partying. The first huge crowd pleaser was Habit. Everybody flipped. When they played Black it was complete hysteria that went into Nirvana and back to hysteria. Crowd sang all the lyrics out loud and Eddie let us do the tu-du-dud-dud-tu-du-du ending by ourselves and seemed very pleased and gave us an applause. :)) All in all I think we won the band over and showed them that they should come back soon. Well I was disappointed cause I didn't see much chance of Rearviewmirror being played, but I forgave them that when Eddie started talking about the single that they released and didn't know if it was even available here (which it wasn't but I still know both songs) and started cheering with all my might when I realized they were gonna play I Got ID. It's an amazing song. At one point when it suddenly got quiet while they were decideing what song to play... I yelled my lungs out from 50 feet away. REARVIEWMIRROR!!! (that was a bad move... my throat was in bad shape before that) Everybody stared at me and then started cheering again. But they didn't play that. After a couple more songs they suddenly went off. And then a table-tennis table has been instaled on stage and they braught those little rackets and the ball... and as I was hoping to see a couple of points played... they crowd started roaring and cheering and they took it away and guys came back on. Played about a six-or-so-song encore. Including Alive and Better Man... at that point I was totally exhausted. Barely fighting not to faint. People smoking around me... not just cigarettes... and I needed a drink but didn't want to leave even for a second. So I took a break during the easier songs like that one and Slight Of Hand. When they started the intro to Rearviewmirror I exploded (inspite of feeling a bit dizzy) and so did everybody else. They played an extended version with a long bridge and ending. Loud guitars and crazy crowd. It was fucking unbelievable!!! I really hope they do realise double live CD from every concert. They went off again. And after a persisant crowd cheers Eddie returned.... and announced that his friend just graduated college and he wanted to give her a graduation speech... and he was gonna do it on this - while holding ukulele in his hand covered in a table cloth but everybody knew what it was and he said it seems as though they played here already! :)) Before he started he asked us to be completely silent as it'll be impossible to hear anything otherwise. Of course there were some buttmunches who just had to make noise.Well anyway those of you who care know what he played... twice in the song he stopped for a second as he forgot the line. :) And after that came the last song. And it was the best ending... Indifference of course. So I screamed my lung out till it filled the room... it didn't make much difference... but it felt good. And suddenly it was over. I was barely able to walk, talk or whatever. I was completely soaked in sweat. Had a shirt tied around my waist to change... but was also wet => cold. Reunited with my friends we went to get something to drink. Of course I picked the cold ice tea... which was another bad idea... so today I'm basically not feeling my best phisically... but mentally... I'm great!!! :)))) So if you like Pearl Jam and haven't been to their concert... what the hell are you waiting for! :)) There's no way to tell what they're going to play... it depends on the crowd sometimes. So sure they didn't play all my favorite songs, like Garden, Jeremy, Immortality, Once, Dissident, Go, Off He Goes etc. but it's impossinble to do it all. They have so many great songs. Nevertheless I think the set was brilliant and am sure that today in Italy it will be quite different. Unfortunately I won't be there... but I wouldn't've survived it anyways! :)))))) OK that's it from me. I just had to share. - -- Have fun and stay beautiful Dart Fairypants A.K.A.
