She is a genius. Her music falls somewhere amidst the enlightened underground of such greats as American Music Club, Cowboy Junkies and The Bats. I would say she could most likely be placed in the top ten of the most innovative artists of all time...and I am serious here. Never before have I heard music that is so beautiful and at the same time so gutsy and abrasive. She's unreal. So everybody listen to her. Contributions from Mary Margaret O'Hara can also be found on albums by John & Mary, S.F. Seals and others. Her best album she ever made was a 17 track-er called MISS AMERICA. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 17 Jun 2000 19:01:50 -0700 (PDT) From: shell Subject: ET: yahoo Dear Angels, UGH! Holy flying horse shit… Well long story short, old friend of mine, Andrew, has basically said that in order for us to be friends, I have to beg him or otherwise give him reason to be friends with me. There's more to that that is going to make that a really harsh situation, but I don't want to get into it because quite frankly I don't wanna talk about it a whole lot, and I don't remember a lot of it anyway. Also, I'm trying (very very hard) to get over this ex of mine and in order to do this I think I'm just going to talk to a friend of mine (serina) about him, because that's normally what helps. Paul found out about this and wants to know when I have something to let off my chest… But quite frankly, I highly doubt that 2 hours of me saying "Chris this, Chris that" is going to be something he wants to hear. This weekend, as it seems, has been one big "Let's all see how much we can piss Courtney off" fest. Well, no. Not piss me off. Hurt. All I've done this weekend is cry about shit going on that I don't know how to deal with. I want to, I just don't know how. And I've come to accept that contrary to my own belief, I am very very far from over Chris. (the 2nd one, to those of you who know the difference) Ugh. feel free to comment. Court Bug. _______________________________________________________ Get 100% FREE Internet Access powered by Excite Visit http://freelane.excite.com/freeisp ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 17 Jun 2000 22:10:59 EDT From: RedWoodenBeads@aol.com Subject: ET: Re: korn sucks In a message dated 6/17/00 6:51:18 PM Pacific Daylight Time, owner-eda-thoughts-digest@smoe.org writes: << You talk about how they swear all the time... how they're just "corporate b.s."... how the music biz pisses you off. If you won't or can't give context for your arguments, don't expect them to make any impact on anybody. >> There are a number of obvious reasons why Korn sucks. For one thing, it's where their music is coming from. They spring totally as a side effect of grunge and are nothing more than the final after effects of the hugely overblown genre. The guitar styles used are nothing more than grunge progressions (power chords) with tons of distortion on them, to create the illusion of a "more angry" sound. In reality, all these overdrive effects make it much softer on the players hands and so the guys in Korn actually play like "woosies", and probably couldn't make a peep out of an acoustic guitar. In addition to the fact that they are porr songwriters, and are totally unoriginal (like I said, grunge wrip offs) those are the reasons why I feel Korn sucks. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 18 Jun 2000 02:13:20 GMT From: "~* cymbaline *~" Subject: Re: [Re: ET: Re: phish] >gotta step in here. have we ever heard of the grateful dead? phish is >most >definitely part of the "jam band" phenomenon that has sprung up in >the >wake of the dead. i don't even like the grateful dead, but as far >as their >contribution to the world of music, and the many side projects >that they >all had, which are amazing, i cannot let a statement >like "phish is >original" go by. they are talented musicians who make >relatively good >records, but they are a dead clone, evidenced by the >fact that they have >scooped up all the dead fans who have nothing else >left to cling to except >the post dead bands that the surviving members >have formed. They are original COMPARED TO all the other bands (that exist RIGHT NOW)who all do the same thing. They have an ORIGINAL sound compared to 95% of all the music out there. When there's 4 or 5 bands out there who all have the same sound... thats NOT original. (and for the record, Phish was around even before Jerry died) There are only a few bands who have an original sound unlike others. But IMO, those bands still suck... and there is no other band (that exists right now) that will ever have the talent, and great music like Phish. the Dead was great, but their gone... so they do not count in what I'm saying. ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 17 Jun 2000 22:22:23 -0400 From: shivergirl Subject: ET: ~refugee travel documents~ + you are applying to leave this country because there has always been a bounty on your heart and you have put it there writing down brown hair and blue eyes even though the picture taken, and the face you're making appear more black irish, at the moment and your former surname encapsulates your prior life as sure as the ink stain on this passport form a place called newtownards in northern ireland (scratched out-- means great britain-- an oxymoron if there ever was one) where it all began before marital status became an issue, legality and reality worth staying for as a homemaker slash world traveller every single summer you fly home + remember the days when i was included on your passport i didn't have a travelling identity of my own yet the time you were a fury in a hurry to pack up your pain and leave the man who brought it all on blaming a foreign country that birthed two daughters as i watched throwing everything all over the room like the pieces of our family red and foreboding on the walls at night begging and pleading for you not to leave me like daddy did + maybe i will be born abroad across the pond during a naturalization process in the midst of familial s e p a r a t i o n searching for my spirit's occupation while courting a change of name and maybe some citizenship for my heart to embrace + 1977 is the year given stamped diagonally across the laminated card with an empty box for visible marks beside a younger visage on top of a black turtleneck never-before-seen fringe and a resemblance that almost leaves me awe-struck the year i was born my mother was also sworn in to be a canadian citizen whatever that means + ------------------------------ End of eda-thoughts-digest V3 #238 **********************************
